Some people are probably wondering that, so before I get into New Testaments, I'll explain the game the story is based upon. Well, Secret of Mana was an Action RPG released by Squaresoft in 1993 for the SNES, and is actually known as Seiken Densetsu 2 in Japan. It was a sequel to the first game released for the GB. In the US, the original game was titled "Final Fantasy Adventure."
Ten Years after Secret of Mana, Mana starts to mysteriously return to the world, and with it, monsters. Within the shadows lies a sinister plot to take advantage of this, which will involve a certain hero and his legendary Sword of Mana. With no prophecy to guide the world, Luka and the Elemental Spirits pick certain individuals to counter this dark plot, as they team up with old heroes to confront a familiar foe in what can only be titled as a new chapter in history: New Testaments of Secret of Mana...

For the longest time, Secret of Mana was my favorite game of all time (it was later debunked by Star Ocean 2). I tried to spread the series as far as I could, and thankfully I got a few friends into the series. In the summer of 2003, in anticipation for Sword of Mana, I came up with an idea: Why not create a fanfic series that revisited the world of each Mana/Seiken Densetsu game, with new as well as old characters in a new adventure? Said friends and I finalizaed the idea as the New Testaments series, a series of collaborative stories that would follow each and every Mana game. And this is how the very first story in the series, New Testaments: Secret of Mana, was born.
