If there is an old piece of furniture or an old tree that bears a special significance, pieces can be turned into a pen. "They make great souvenirs and people will hold on to it," Wood said. Pieces must be at least 3/4-inch by 51/2-inch in size. The complete process from start to finish will typically take a few days. Prior to this business, Wood worked in stone and jewelry cutting, and he also has experience making other small wooden crafts. In his words: "I love doing this. It's really great fun," Wood said.
