My Background
I must confess that I started learning by printing Ovid's "Amores" and attempting to read it
with a dictionary (yes, you are laughing out there, aren't you?).
A year passed with that first page still unread. I started to learn Italian in the meanwhile, and took a pause from actively trying to read Latin. This was to reinforce my grammar skills along with keeping my brain from drying up entirely ! This was of great help. Another year has gone by, and I have abandoned the Italian for a few university courses in Ancient History. I am planning to go for Classical Studies, as soon as certain bureoucratic details get taken care of. All this hopping has not stopped me from collecting all the material I could find in the subject, including some "light" reading that was fun and helped build my vocabulary. Here they are: Conversational Latin for Oral Proficiency A little latin dialog book which is useful to the beginner. Fabulae Mirabiles - Fairy Tales in Latin Fairy Tales in Latin. Your favorite is probably here. Fabulae Romanae On the wish list, will review when I buy it! Winnie Ille Pu Winnie The Pooh is a classic in its own right, and here you have it in Latin! Winnie Ille Pu Semper Ludet on the wish list ... |
