Learn latin by yourself: The Ultimate Guide

'Learn as if you are to live forever.
Read as if you are to die tomorrow.'

The Basic Sites

Professor William Harris, Middlebury College.
Backgrounds on authors, "The Intelligent Person's Guide to the Latin Language" and a curious essay on the right/wrong reasons to learn Latin ( I believe being an Anne Rice fan classifies as wrong...) Find it at the preface of the Latin Grammar.
Do yourself a favor and read as much as you can from this site before proceeding. I has invaluable insight that you will need later on. The Professor actively encourages you to go for it alone, and gives you tips on how to proceed.

SCRINIUM LATINUM - It is part of Professor Harris' site. If you cannot bring yourself to read the whole site try at least to read this part. Contains a concise, innovative Latin Grammar. You should print and keep the Latin Grammar at least, it will help you for a while before you will need to acquire your own (I haven't acquired mine yet! Suggestions?).

Online Latin Course - A 20-part course by Dr Peter Jones . I am following it religiously to acquire a minimal background in Latin.

Applied Latin Course Also available in Italian. By the the Romae Magazine.

Read about Rome, from the site "Exploring Ancient World Cultures" hosted at the University of Evansville.

A treasure-trove of links on Ancient Rome.
