| Miasmic peered into the darkness, eyes glimmering like yellow orbs. Beven had wanted to be on his way, and so did Miasmic... in a way. He turned to the two Egyptans that he had come to know as Mom and Dad, and gave them each a lick, accompanied by a heartbreaking look. He really didn't want to leave them behind...nor one other... but she wasn't here to say goodbye, and that was one thing that he'd always regret until the end of his days. "Mom, willyou say goodbye to the others for me? I don't want to wake them," he said, smiling sadly. His mother nodded. Nyxa and Vulcan had decided to let Beven take him and Atienza early, even though he was not an adult yet, so that he would have time to find a suitable spot to set up a base for the next colony of Egyptans. Miasmic glanced over at Beven, who looked up briefly from his packing and smiled. "Ready to go, Mic? I'll be ready in just a bit, so keep saying your goodbyes," he said, and then turned to continue packing. Miasmic turned to his mother again, a question in his eyes. "Mom, where's Twila? She hasn't been around all day today. I wanted to say goodbye," he said, frowning slightly, unspoken emotion shining brilliantly in his eyes. Lucina shrugged slightly, and sighed. "I don't know dearheart. As soon as she heard the news, she took off, and neither I nor her father have been able to find her all day. We even sent Veneran after her, and even he couldn't pick up her trail." Veneran was Lucina and Tyri's son, the most highly regarded tracker/strategist/warrior of the whole group. "She'll probably show up later, after you're gone," continued his mother. Mic sighed, completely unhappy. He didn't want to leave her! If only she had been here.. he would have asked her to come with him. Turning around at a sudden noise, Mic noticed that Beven had finished packing, and was in the process of hoisting his bags up onto their horse. "Ready to go Mic, or do you want to wait a little longer?" he asked, reading the emotions in Miasmic's eyes like a book. "No. It's useless to stay. We may as well go. She's not going to show." he turned one last time to his parents and gave a final nuzzle. "Send my love to her, will you?" he asked. They nodded. Trudging after Beven, they began to move away from the hidden cavern that Miasmic had begun to know as home. Now he was lost. He didn't know where this was going to lead, and for a moment, he felt as scared as the cub he had once been. To his right, he heard a rustling in the underbrush, but dismissed it as the wind and kept moving. Suddenly from the bush, a shape bounded at him, tails flying, and splayed him on the ground, pinning him, in a move that he had begun to associate with only one person... "Twila!" he shouted happily, spinning her about. "Why didn't you come say goodbye?" "I was scared," she replied honestly, a trait that he always found endearing. "I was afraid of saying goodbye." Miasmic looked at her and grinned. He was interrupted by a familiar light on his face, and a peculiar warmth spread through his body, like fire. When the light faded, he knew what had happened. Without even looking at himself, he went to ask Twila the one thing on his mind, and was suprised by what his eyes saw. She had changed too! She was an adult! He laughed giddily, and nuzzled her. "Twila, I wasn't going to leave without you. How could I? You're the most important thing in my life. I wouldn't be without you." he looked to Beven and his parents, who, upon hearing the noise, had come to investigate. "Beven, Mom, Dad, can Twila come too? I want her to be with me." He turned to her, and looked her straight in the eye, and solemnly said; "Twila, I would be honoured if you would be my mate." She turned to him and touched noses, her voice barely above a whisper. "It would be my pleasure," she said. Beven watched all this curiously, and then broke out in laughter. "Looks like we can't keep you two apart, not that we would want to. I have no choice in the matter. It's already been decided for me, and I would be delighted if Twila joined us." Her parents nodded their approval on the matter, and Twila's eyes lit up from within, completely and utterly satisfied that she would not be leaving the one person that she cared about above all else.
