OnSTAGE Youth Theatre

OnStage Youth Theatre

The longest running repertory company in the Tulsa area dedicated solely to high school students.

This group, founded in 1985, has produced well over 100 shows. It performs three shows per year in its main season and provides many other performing opportunities for students during the year. Show performers are cast by audition, but the auditions are small, and chances are that hopefuls will get to be in more than one show during the year.

Membership in OnSTAGE is limited to 50 at any one time, which increases the chance for all members to get to participate. Not everyone may be cast in every show, but during the course of the year, persistence usually pays off.

Auditions

Tuesday, August 27, 7:00 p.m. at Clark Theatre.

It is mandatory that all students interested in auditioning prepare a 2-3 minute monologue. Students may also sing if they wish, but it is not required.

Rehearsals

Shows usually rehearse a production 4 times per week for two-hour periods. The normal length of a rehearsal period is 5-6 weeks.

It is important for students to attend all rehearsals unless prior arrangements are made.

Other Guidelines

OnSTAGE members are given participation points for being in a show. Students must accrue 80 points in a season to retain their membership. In addition, students are required to do 20 hours of tech or volunteer work with us during the year. There is ample opportunity to accomplish these two things.

Fees

Annual Registration Fee $15

Performance Fee $20 *

*Only paid by students who are cast in a show.

The fees are only a fraction of the troupe's expenses, and are generously subsidized by Tulsa Parks and the citizen advisory council.

OnSTAGE 2002-2003 Season
Roomers* by Jerome McDonough

The people of this comedy are fresh, creative, and unpredictable. From the avaricious landlady who rents the pantry as a bedroom so what if the bed has to be leaned against the wall to the man on the roof trying to develop homing vultures, this is a rooming house filled with a wild assortment of characters. Each has his own problems; most of them weird and unsolvable, and the plot is involved with trying to solve them.

Oh, What A Tangled Web*

by John R. Carroll

On an impulse, a young girl makes up a story, and the complications that result from it are extremely funny. Suddenly needing an excuse, the girl fumbles for a moment and then blurts out that there has been a death in the family. Actually, the only thing wrong in this family is that the cat is missing. In any case, people start coming over to express their concern and sympathy. The parents think theyre all referring to the missing cat and the hilarious complications just continue to multiply.

Twelve Angry Jurors*

Adapted by Sherman Sergel based on the movie by Reginald Rose

A 19-year-old boy has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. It looks like an open-and-shut case until one of the jurors begins opening the others eyes to the facts. Tempers get short, arguments grow heated, and the jurors become 12 angry people.

The final verdict and how it is reached will electrify the audience. This is an exceptional piece of dramatic literature that will keep audience members on the edge of their seats.
