Footlights Youth Theatre Footlights Youth Theatre The longest running repertory company in this area for middle school students. This group, founded in 1987, performs three shows per year in its main season and provides other opportunities for students during the year. Show performers are cast by audition, but the auditions are small, and chances are that hopefuls will get to be in more than one show during the year. Membership in Footlights is limited to 45 students at any one time, which increases the chance for all members to get to participate. Not everyone may be cast in every show, but during the course of the year, persistence usually pays off. Auditions Monday, August 26, 7:00 p.m. at Clark Theatre. Students in grades 5-8 are able to audition. It is mandatory that all students auditioning prepare and present a 1-3 minute monologue. Students may sing if they wish, but it is not required. Rehearsals Shows usually rehearse 3-4 times per week for two-hour periods. The normal length of a rehearsal period is 4 -5 weeks. It is important for students to attend all rehearsals unless prior arrangements are made. Other Guidelines Footlights members are given participation points for being in shows or assisting in productions. Students must accrue 60 points in a year to retain their membership. Most plays are worth 30 points. Fees Annual Registration Fee $15 Performance Fee $20 * *Only paid by students who are cast in a show. The fees are only a fraction of the troupe's expenses, and are generously subsidized by Tulsa Parks and the citizen advisory council. |
