| Dear Parents, Welcome to second grade! I hope you had an enjoyable summer. I'm looking forward to working with you and your child this year. My hope is that we can work together in making this a successful year for your child. The best way to get in touch with me if you have any questions/concerns is to send a note in with your child or to call me at home. (After 7 pm is usually a good time.) Mrs. Hardiman, our classroom aide, & I are looking forward to a productive & fun year. Sincerely, Tal Clarke (362-6676) |
| Science- Please be on the lookout for monarch caterpillars to bring into class. I hope you can find some. Hint: They live on milkweed plants. They don't bite but must be handled carefully for their protection. They will need a few milkweed leaves to munch on at school. We never bring in live butterflies. The only butterflies that should be brought in are ones you find already dead. Good luck! |
| Math- We'll be using the series called Everyday Math. It's important to begin reviewing the math facts in adding to 12. (ex: 3+4=7, 4+3=7, 7-4=3, 7-3=4 , & so on to 12.) |
| Brown Envelopes- Brown envelopes will be going home the first day of school. Enclosed you'll find many forms to be filled out. When all the appropriate forms are completed please have your child return them in the envelope. Some forms have two sides. (The insurance form needs to be sent (by you) directly to the company.) Thanks. |
| Supplies- When sending in school supplies please keep in mind that the students already have quite a few large books that have to fit in their 4 1/2 inch high desks. |
| A handy dandy
refrigerator magnet with homework reminders will be given
to parents at Back to School Night. |
