ABOUT THE CLARINGTON CONCERT BAND

8
Mission

The mission of the Clarington Concert Band is to establish, operate, maintain, equip and direct a community band in the Municipality of Clarington and further to provide for the holding of public concerts, exhibitions, festivals and educational forums in music for young musicians.

8 History

Now in it's 16th year, The Clarington Concert Band  for all of its existence, has been a volunteer community band and is the principal community wind ensemble in the Clarington area. The band was formed in 1992, and continues a 160-year-old town band tradition in the Clarington area that dates from the earliest documented band concert in Bowmanville in 1848.

The Band is a 45-player strong ensemble of brass, woodwind and percussion players and comprises both amateurs and seasoned professional musicians who hail from all parts of Durham Region, as well as surrounding areas in and around the GTA.

The band performs a wide repertoire of music that includes transcriptions of classical music, original compositions, big band arrangements, movie scores, Broadway musicals, traditional marches and the occasional Strauss waltz.

The band operates year-round performing in Clarington and surrounding Municipalities. Public appearances include:
- Fall and Spring Concert Series
- Park Concerts (Bowmanville, Orono, Port Hope, Port Perry)
- Christmas Concerts
- Annual Parades
- Senior Citizen Complexes
- Canadian Band Association Events
- Local Community Fairs, Festivals and otherCelebrations

The Clarington Concert Band is proud to bring the sound of live musical performances to audiences and at the same time provide musicians with an outlet to display their talents
