Winston Churchill

Birth
 | Winston Churchill was born in 1874. His mother was a rich american,
and his father was an important government minister of the day. It was decided
that Churchill wouldfollow his father into government.
Adulthood
In 1900 Churchill went in polotics, where he became Troy Mp. Hewas only 25 and
knew that he would be in and out of polotics for the next 55 years of his life.
In 1915, Churchill left the government to join the army and fight in France. Later
he helped in making the first tanks, which brolke the german lines and helped to end the war.
Churchill had quit the Troy party in 1904 and joined the liberals. In 1922 he quit the liberals
and sided with the Troys again. Although he was in and out of govrenment, he was always in the news.
Churchill was the one who but the first british tax on petrol in 1928.
In the early 1930's Churchill said Britian must stand up to Nazi Germany.
In 1939 Britian and Germany were at war. That september Hitler invaided poland. The same day Churchill
joined the war cabinet.
By 1940 Britian was in danger of beging invaided. The government fell and Churchill was asked to be
prime minister for the rest of the war.
After the war there was a general election in Britian, and labour won. Churchill had to quit as prime minister. It was
a bitter disappointment. HE WON THE WAR, BUT LOST THE ELECTION.
He was soon back in power form 1951 to 1955. During that time he got rid of rationing, then at the age of 80
he retired. After that Churchill spent his time writing. He wrote a history of the second world awr, which he won
a nobel price for, in 1953.

Death
In 1953 Churchill had his first stroke. In january 1965 Churchill had another stroke and died quietly in his bed, aged 90.
He was given a state funeral in st paul's Cathedral, and was buried with his family near Blenhelm Palace.
