| BIS and the Workplace | ||||||||||||
| Few places are as ripe for interdisciplinary thinking as the workplace. Any workplace is a collision of ideas, values, and knowledge; in other words, a veritable hotbed for interdisciplinarity. Employment in the 21st century will be an exercise in flexibility, globalization, and interdisciplinarity. Essential to this enterprise will be life-long learning in the face of ever-quickening change. Some experts predict that up to a quarter of all work will be done from home, so effective time management is a requirement. Communication and listening, all part of an interdisciplinary approach to work, will aid in lessening the distance between co-workers. Interdisciplinarity will ensure that I possess the knowledge I need to live a productive life, both in the workplace and elsewhere.
