Poppy's Lament

Dead Goblin song

Songs of the Hielands 11

The war is here, and it's bitter,

and it's chilled us to the bone,

have'nt had any hope for weeks

too long too far from home,

She felt just like she's sinking

as she clawed for solid ground,

pulled down by the undertow

never knew how she fell so low,

Oh Poppy how could you just let go,

if all of our strength and all of our courage couldn't lift you from this place

I know that the next lifes much better than this,

with Anu's grace, remember her face.

So it's better this way, she said,

haven't seen this place before,

but all the goodbyes she said and did, just hurts us all the more.

It's just she'd stayed, too long,

and her soul was wearing thin,

pulled down by the undertow,

never knew how she fell so low.

Oh Poppy how could you just let go,

If all of our strength and all of our courage couldn't lift you from this place

I know that the next life's much better than this

with Anu's grace,

remember her face.
