| CLAN INVITED TO NEW EVENT Michael Ramsey & two possible new recruits, Nick Honzik & Brandon Fleming, took their families down to Manskers Station on May 6, 2007. Ramsey ran across an old friend and fellow Scottish enthusiast, Joe Kerr. A conversation was begun, with the intent of acquiring an invitation for Clann Nan Con to the Tennessee Highland Games. That invitation is still being pursued; however, we have been invited to next years festivities at Manskers Station Colonial Trade Fair. This event always takes place the first weekend of May. (Editors Note: This may be the same weekend as Savannah. If so, we will likely split our force to participate in both events.) TENNESSEE HIGHLAND GAMES Clann Nan Con has been contacted by the Tennessee Highland Games to determine our interest & how much our expenses might be. Clan Chief Britt Brinson has responded that we are very interested in attending & that our-of-pocket expenses for our clan run between $600 & $1000. Brinson will follow up on this possibility. The Tennessee Highland Games will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2007. All members of the clann are encouraged to attend this event in support of our Tennessee contingent. SCOTTISH HERITAGE DATES CHANGE Easter 2008 falls on the traditional weekend for Scottish Heritage Days at Fort King George. Due to this occurrence, the event will move to March 8, for next year only. Plans currently call for the event to revert to its traditional 3rd weekend in March in 2009. For those who can make it, Park Superintendent Steven Smith wants to add additional days for schools to bring kids out to the park. He has determined that they would be March 5-7. He is working on a grant that would allow presenters to be paid for those three days. If you are interested in helping with the school days events, please let me know by August 15 so I can pass this on to Steven. |
