Hi, my name’s Claire and I suffer from Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. Don’t worry it’s not infectious, though by the reaction of some people you meet you could be forgiven for thinking it was. Even some people that know me, instead of asking me how I am, ask the person I am with. I am not mentally impaired; I am a normal 18year old. My disability is in my limbs not my head. This is one of the reasons that I have started to write this page.
In this site I will try to explain what Cerebral Palsy is, how it affects the sufferer, their family and friends and how some of the problems can be alleviated. I will also try to lay to rest some of the popular myths and misconceptions associated with the condition. In fact I can make a start now; yes CP is a condition not a disease. Unfortunately it is a condition without a cure. But on he positive side; at least I can be sure that I am not going to get any worse. It is not a condition that deteriorates with time.
