| CHAPTER 13 - AT THE PARTY I spent the night deciding on an outfit to wear to the party. Although it was only Bryans party, I was going with Nicky, and wanted to look nice. Plus, I had to make a good impression with Niamh, and it was an excuse to dress up. After two hours of rummaging through drawers, and my wardrobe, I finally decided to wear a little black skirt, and a small top, with a cochet cardigan over the top. As I looked at these items, hanging together, ready, I felt tingly inside. I just hoped it would impress Nicky. I was looking forward to the party - I loved partys, and this party would give me an oppertunity to catch-up with all of my friends. I hadn't seen them in a while, as I'd mainly been spending time with Nicky. My friends would also get to meet Nicky. I was all excited. I ironed my outfit, and hung it on my wardrobe. My Mother had also phoned me earlier, saying we was stopping over at my Aunties, and Uncles for the night, and the following day. I was by myself in the house. Nicky then phoned, and I told him my Mum was out for another day. We talked about the party, his cousin, and us. The phone call didn't last long though, as his father needed to use the phone urgently. As there was nothing much on TV, I decided to have an early night. I knew I wouldn't get much sleep the next night - I'd be partying. I lay in bed, awake. Although I wanted to sleep, I couldn't. I kept thinking of Nicky, and how much I loved him. I sat up in bed, and put on the radio, hoping it would help me to drift off to sleep. As I did this, I heard a funny noise on my window, like a rattling sound. I got out of bed, after looking at my clock - it was 11pm. I went over to the window, and pulled back the curtains. I couldn't see anything, so I opened the window, and looked out. "BOO!" I jumped back, startled. Nicky stuck his head through my bedroom window. "You gave me the fright of my life! Why can't you use the door, like normal people?!" "I thought this would be more fun, and I knew your mum was out. I just grabbed the ladder lying outside, and climbed up to your window. I sneaked out of my bedroom window - my parents think I'm lying sound asleep right now!!" He grinned, cheekily, and climbed in through my window. "I just thought I'd have an early night" I said, closing the window, "but I couldn't sleep." "Neither could I." We both sat down. "Is that what you're wearing to the party?" He said, pointing towards the outfit hanging on my wardrobe. "Yeh, just something I grabbed earlier." "It's beautiful. You'll look gorgeous in it. Mind you, you'd look gorgeous in anything." Nicky looked up at me. "Thanks." I blushed. "So, looking forward to your cousin comming over?" "Yeh, I guess so. She'll be sleeping in my sisters room. She phoned earlier." "Oh yeh, what was she saying?" "I was just telling her about the party, and you." "And she wants to go to the party?" "Niamh is a party animal - you'll soon find that out." "I guess I will." I smiled. "Love the pyjamas by the way - they're very sexy!" We laughed, as he pointed to my pyjamas - they were covered in little animals - rabbits, squirrels etc, and were quite old. "Very funny Nicky!" I made a sarcastic face. "Oh, lighten up. I was only joking! I mean, look at mine - just an old pair of shorts, and an old t-shirt." "Ok, we'll call it a truce on the pyjamas then!" Nicky leaned towards me, and kissed me softly. I kissed him back, and we kissed for a while. Nicky left a couple of hours later - we'd decided to have a game on the playstation, and then got tired. Plus, he couldn't risk his parents finding out he wasn't in bed. I didn't see Nicky until midday the next day. As I opened the door to his knock, I saw who must've been Niamh, standing beside him. "Hey Charlotte" Nicky said, "just thought I'd bring Niamh round, to introduce you two." "Yeh sure" I gestured for the pair to come inside, and shut the door behind them. "Hi Nicky" I said, giving him a kiss. "This must be Niamh." I smiled at her, warmly. She looked quite shy. "Hi" she said in a soft irish voice. As I looked at her, I noticed she was about my height, with shoulder length red hair, and very fair skin. "How was the journey Niamh?" "It was good thanks Charlotte. Nicky's told me all about you - we're going to a party later?" Her voice had become normal now, as she relaxed a bit more. "Yes, Nicky tells me you're a bit of a party animal!" I grinned at Nicky, who grinned back. "Well, I do enjoy a good party!" She laughed. We all talked for a while longer, and Niamh became more at ease - she never stopped talking, and seemed like a very nice girl - we had a lot in common, and seemed to get on well. Then Niamh and Nicky had to leave for dinner. As Nicky went to leave, he spoke; "What time shall we call round for you?" "Ummmm, well the party starts at 7pm, but they usually take a little while to get going. Say, about quarter past 7?" "Yeh, thats fine. See you later." We kissed good bye. "Bye you two, nice to meet you Niamh." "Yeh, nice to meet you to Charlotte - see you later." I looked at my watch, as I shut the door - it was 4pm. I had dinner, watched MTV for a little while, and took a shower. By this time, it was 6.30pm, and I had to get ready. I was ready, and waiting by 7pm. Nicky and Niamh were early, and called around shortly after. I saw Nicky was wearing a blue shirt, and navy blue jeans. He studied me, as I stepped outside. "You look stunning" he said, kissing me. "You don't look too bad yourself!" I smiled, pleased to see him. Nicky took my hand, and the three of us headed for Bryans house. I didn't want to kiss Nicky too much, infront of Niamh, encase we were to make her feel awkward, so I was content with us just holding hands. As the three of us approached Bryans house, we could hear the music blasting out of the door, and saw a lot of people outside, chatting, and having a drink. We went in, and sat down. I got a few strange looks, and I saw a lot of the girls looking at Nicky, wondering who he was. I grabbed his hand, to show we were going out, and to give a message to all of the other girls, to keep their hands off. I didn't want to risk anyone trying to chat Nicky up. As I looked about, for my friends, Bryan came running up to us. "Hi Charlotte." He gave me a big hug - "haven't seen you in a while!" "Hi Bryan." "And who's this?" He pointed to Nicky, and Niamh."Aren't you going to introduce us?" "Yes, I was just about to - Bryan, this is Nicky, my boyfriend, and this is Niamh, his cousin. She's over here, for a week, from Dublin." "Hi you two - pleased to meet you. Well, best dash!! Tracy's in the other room, dancing. Enjoy the party!" He then went off, to greet some others, just arriving. Nicky kissed me, "He seems mad!" "He is." We all laughed, and began to dance to the music playing. There were tables holding drinks, and food. Niamh went off to get a drink, or so she told Nicky and I - we suspected it was because there happened to be a lad at the drinks table, who she kept staring at. Still, Nicky and I continued to dance, leving Niamh to it. "Well Nicky, this certainly beats dancing in your living room!" "Yeh, we're just dancing in Bryans living room!" We had been dancing for a while, when Tracy came over, accompanied by my other friends Jenny, Jessica, and Katy. "Hi you two lovebirds!" "Hi - let me introduce you." I introduced Nicky to my friends. "So, this is Nicky, we've been hearing so much about!" said Tracy, smiling in her usual devious manner. Nicky went slightly red. "Don't worry, we've only been hearing good things!" Tracy tapped Nicky on the shoulder, and then spotted Bryan jumping off of the couch, and falling on the floor. "Best go Charlotte, talk to you later. I'd better go and sort that boyfriend of mine out!" With that, Tracy, Jenny, Jessica, and Katy all went off, leaving Nicky and I alone together once again. We began to dance - there were a lot of people up dancing too. As we glanced over to the drinks table, we saw Niamh chatting to the lad she'd seen earlier. "She doesn't waste anytime does she!" "No, and neither do I." Nicky then spun me around, and caught me in his arms. "Lets enjoy ourselves." "You're on!" The two of us then began dancing madly, not really caring who was watching. Nicky was the only person I cared about, and that was all that mattered. |
