| ...ally... The day after we got home was Dylan's first birthday, so we were having a party at our house. Not a big party, just the other guys, their wives or girlfriends, Ro with Yvonne and Jack, Lou, and Bry's parents and sister, and of course. Derek. I had been to the doctors on the day we got home to confirm dates and stuff, and as I expected, either Bryan or Derek could be the father. About half way through the party, Bryan turned off the music from the stereo, and stood up on a chair. "Can I have your attention please?" He shouted, in a funny voice. Everyone stopped what they were doing, and I grabbed Dylan and took him over beside Bryan. He started again, "I would like to thank you all for coming to our party! But we also have an announcement too!" He grabbed my hand. " come up here beside me, grab a chair." He laughed. "No!" I laughed, "I don't like heights." "Ok, I'll tell them myself then," he laughed and stuck his tongue out at me, "ok, Ally and I are getting married!" He said, followed by squeals from the people at the party, "hold on, I'm not finished." He continued, "and, we're gonna have a baby too, in June!" He got down and gave me a hug. His parents ran over and gave us both a hug. "ALLY!! I can't believe you never told us you got engaged!!" Pnut shouted, as Nat nodded her head. Just then I noticed Derek walking over towards me, "congratulations." He said, coldly. "Thanks." I think he had figured out that there was a chance the baby was his, by the way he looked over, "excuse me." I said, and walked into the kitchen. I went in and started looking for the candle for the birthday cake, I was busy rummaging in a drawer when I heard someone walk in the kitchen behind me. I turned around. "Ally?" It was Derek. "God, you scared me." I said, as he walked over beside me. ...mark... I walked over to Bry. "Congratulations!" I said, as he kept smiling, "you dark horse." I teased him. "Where did Ally go?" He asked, looking around. "I think she was gonna get the cake, that's what Michelle said. I'll go and find her." I offered. "Yeah, thanks" he said, as he spied more people heading over to congratulate him. I walked towards the kitchen, and was about to go in when I heard what sounded like Ally arguing with Derek. "Well, is it?!" Derek was saying angrily. "What?!" Ally shouted back, no one could hear this because the music was being blasted out at full volume again. "You know what! Is it my baby?!" "I - I" Ally started. "Don't lie to me about this, if it's mines I wanna know!" "I don't know!" She yelled back. "It could be, you know that already, don't you?!" "Is it mines, or is it Bryan's?" He asked, calming down. "Your guess is as good as mine." She said. "God, Ally, this is a mess, huh?" "Yeah. But remember, you can't say anything, we swore never to mention that night." "This changes things Ally," he continued, "If this is mine, I don't want to miss out on anything," he said, "not again." "We wont know until the baby's born Derek, chances are it's Bryan's. So, just forget about it, ok?" "No, I won't. Not until I know. I'm not gonna say anything, but I want to know everything when it's born, ok?" "Fine." She said quietly. Just then I heard someone walking towards the door, and I walked away from it, Derek walked out. I hesitated, wondering whether I should go in and talk to Ally, was this true?! Just then, she walked out, looking upset. "Ally?" I said, walking back over. "Mark, how long have you been there?" "Long enough. What's going on?" I asked, as we walked back into the kitchen. "Nothing." "I heard the argument, are you cheating on Bryan?" "No, it was one night. Look, please, don't tell him, this would destroy him." She pleaded. "You're asking me to lie to my best friend." "No, I'm asking you to not tell him, not lie. Please Mark, for Bryan," she started, "not just him, but for Dylan, and the baby too." She looked up at me. "Ally - I" "Please." "Ok." I said, not happy at having to lie. |
