| ...ally... "Are you sure you've got everything?" I asked Bryan for the hundredth time. "YES!" He answered, then started laughing. "Put your bags in the car, and I'll go upstairs and grab Dylan." I said, and left Bryan out at the car. I tried not to wake Dylan as I put a blanket over him, carried him downstairs, and put him in his car seat. "What time are we picking the others up at?" Bryan asked, as we were giving Nat, Kian, Mark and Pnut a ride to the airport. "1030." I answered him, and looked at my watch, "we'd better hurry." "I'll drive on the way there." He said, as I put Dylan's seat in the back of middle part of the car. We drove along to Nat and Kians place first, both Nat and Pnut were going on the tour with the guys. Bryan got out and rung the doorbell, and a few minutes later, they both came out with their suitcases. "Hi!" They both said as they got in the car, "Oh, sorry!" Kian whispered when he realised that Dylan was asleep in his car seat. "He's so cute!" Nat whispered, looking at him clutching a teddy bear. "I know, I'm going to miss him when we're away." Bryan said, as we turned into Mark and Pnut's driveway. They were already at the door waiting with their cases. "Oh, you're just gonna miss him, are you?" I said, hitting his arm. "Well, I might miss you..." He laughed back at me. Just then, Mark and Pnut came up to the car."Hello!" They both cried, "Oh, I'm so excited." Pnut cried, jumping and hugging Mark, who just laughed at her. "Shhh! You guys!" Nat whispered, and pointed at Dylan. "Awww, you brought him along!" Pnut cried, just then he whimpered a little, and we all thought he was going to wake up, but he just gave a big sigh and went back to sleep. Within 15 minutes, we were at the airport, and we all got out of the car, while Mark, Kian and Bryan all went to get luggage trolleys. They put all the cases on the trolleys, and I lifted Dylan out of his car seat. "I'll take him." Bryan said, so I gave Dylan to him, trying not to wake him. "Oh, you guys, you'll never guess what happened today!" I cried, realising that I hadn't told them. "What?!" "Dylan walked on his own today in the park!" I said. "Oh my God!" Nat and Pnut both cried and hugged Mark and Kian. I noticed that Bryan wasn't saying much. "Hey, everything ok?" I asked him. "Yeah," he said, I could tell something was bothering him. "Why are you so quiet?" "Sorry." He muttered, "Didn't realise I was." "Ok, I thought we were ok now." I whispered, not wanting the others to realise that we were nearly arguing. "We are! It's just -" he trailed off. "Just what?!" "Seeing you and Dylan with Derek today, I felt like I somehow didn't belong there. I mean, Dylan walked today, for the first time, and sure I'm so happy I was there, but, look who he was walking towards." He blurted out, quietly. "I thought you were ok with this! Look, you're his father, ok? Not Derek. He's just a friend. You're making something out of nothing, Bryan!" I shouted, waking Dylan up. "Good one Ally!" "I'll take him!" I shouted. "No, just leave him, I've got him."Bryan shouted. "Fine." I walked on ahead, towards the others. "What's going on?" I heard Pnut say to the others, who all just looked puzzled. "Everything ok?" Mark asked, as I walked over. "Yeah. Don't worry about it. Just Bryan being stupid." I answered, turning around to watch him calm Dylan down. Once Dylan had stopped crying, Bryan walked back over. Just then, the boarding call for their flight was made. "That's us." He said to me. "Yeah." He handed Dylan back over and grabbed his bags, and started to walk away. 'I can't let him go with an argument still going between us.' I thought, and ran after him. "Bryan! Wait!" I shouted after him, he stopped walking and turned around, I could see tears in his eyes. "I'm sorry." I said quietly, and hugged him. "Me too." He answered and smiled. "I'm going to miss you, ok? Take care." "I will, you too." He said, and kissed me, now I had tears in my eyes. Then the flight was called again. "I really should get going." "Yeah, bye." I said, through my tears and he walked away, into the plane, turning and waving as he reached it. Chapter 33 ...ally... I stood at the airport for a while, waiting for Dylan to go back to sleep before I put him back in the car to go home. Finally, at about 12am, he went back to sleep, so I put him back in his carseat and drove back to the house. I got inside and put him back in his cot and went to bed myself. It took me ages to get to sleep because what Bryan had said at the airport still bugged me. I had never realised how insecure he felt about the whole Bryan, Derek, Dylan situation. Finally, I fell asleep. The next day, I was sitting watching a kids program with Dylan when the phone rang. I expected it to be Bryan to let me know he had landed safely, but it wasn't him. "Hi Ally." It was Derek. "Hey." I tried not to sound too surprised at hearing him, but he could tell I was. "I said yesterday that I would call, is it ok?" He asked. "Yeah, sorry." "I was wondering if it would be ok to come round and see you both." "Today?" 'Duh, of course today.' I told myself. "Umm, yeah, or do you have plans?" "yeah, we do, but you could come around this afternoon, it's just that I'm taking him to the doctors this morning." I explained. "Doctors? Is he ok?" He asked, sounding concerned. "Yeah, just a cold. I'm just making sure, he's due a check up anyway." "Oh ok, so what time do you want me to come around then?" "Umm," I looked at the clock, and tried to figure out at what time I would be finished all the things I had to do today. "About 4., then you can stay for some dinner." "4. Yeah, that'll be fine. See you then." He said, and hung up the phone. I managed to tear Dylan away from the tv to get ready for the doctors, when he started to cry for Bryan. "Aww, come on, don't do this. He's not here, he'll be back soon." I said to try and calm him down, needless to say it didn't work, so he was still crying when we left for the doctors. We were nearly at the doctors when my mobile rang, thankfully, it was Bryan. "Hey, you sound stressed, what's wrong?" He asked. "Dylan" "Is he ok?" "He's been crying for you, for the past hour!" I explained. "Let me talk to him on the phone." "Ok," I said, and bent down in front of Dylan, and gave him the phone, he stopped crying, and laughed. "Daddy!" He cried, into the phone, stopping crying. After a few minutes I took the phone back, "Thanks Bryan, you're a lifesaver." "It's ok. Where are you two, it sounds busy." "Outside the doctors." "Doctors?!" He sounded worried. "Are you ok?" "Fine, Dylan's got a cold. That's all. Don't worry." "Everythings ok, isn't it?" "Yeah, of course, I'd tell you if it wasn't." "Look, Ally, I gotta go, call me when you're finished in the docs and let me know how he is." "Bryan! It's a cold!" "I know, but I worry." "OK, I'll call you. See ya." "Bye!" He hung up and we walked into the doctors surgery, and were taken almost immediately. As we expected, the doctor said it was a cold, nothing to get worried about, and gave Dylan a lollipop for being good. After that, we went shopping for a while, Dylan was still cranky, so I had to buy him a cuddly tigger (LOL) to keep him quiet until we got home. We had just gotten in the door, and I put Dylan upstairs for a nap, because he was sleeping when we got home. I came back downstairs and sat on the sofa, I was really tired after today, I hadn't slept much the night before, between worrying about Bryan, and Dylan waking up a few times through the night. Before I knew it, I was asleep on the sofa. I was woken up a while later by a knock at the front door, I opened my eyes, and looked up at the clock, it was 4.00. I got up, and went to the door. As I expected, Derek stood there. "Hi!" He said, standing on the doorstep, with a teddy bear and a bottle of wine. "HI, come in!" I said, trying to sound awake. "Did I wake you up?" He asked, looking at his watch. "No, I was just watching TV." I lied, I think he knew. "Where's Dylan?" "Upstairs." All of a sudden, he started crying, "Well, I was gonna say sleeping, but obviously not." I laughed. "Do you want me to go and get him?" He asked, looking towards the stairs. "Sure, I'll come up too." We both walked up, and into the nursery, to see Dylan standing up in his cot, holding his arms out, Derek walked over and picked him up. "Hi Dylan." He said, and Dylan made a grab for his jacket. "How was he today?" "A little monster." I answered, while Dylan just laughed. "How's his cold?" "Fine. Doc says nothing to worry about there." "Good!" Derek felt his forehead. "He's still warm though." "Don't worry, he'll be fine." We all went downstairs and I made dinner for us all. After that Derek sat and played with Dylan until he fell asleep. "Can I put him to bed?" He asked. "Sure, you want me to come too?" He shook his head, "Ok, on you go." He came back down a few minutes later. "He's sleeping." He grinned."hey, you wanna open that bottle of wine, or?" "Yeah, I'll go get it." I went in the kitchen and opened the bottle, and took two glasses. "Hey, you wanna watch a movie or something, I think ones just starting." "Sure!" I walked in to see the first couple of minutes of 'The Blair Witch Project' starting. "God, remember when we went to see that in the cinema? You were so scared." Derek laughed. "I was not!" I cried defensively. So, that was it, we were back talking about when we were together, and getting more and more drunk by the minute... |
