| The weeks passed by, one after the other, and Bryan missed her more and more each day. In her part of the world she missed him just as much too, and they both wished that they'd never broken up. They could have worked it out; their love is so much stronger than any untrue rumour. When three months had passed, and the case was still all over the papers and such, Bryan couldn't take it any longer and contacted the TV channel who had first interviewed the girl on TV. He told them he wanted them to put an end to this lie, and that he and the girl should come on and correct the error. The TV channel agreed, and two nights later Amanda got a strange text message on her mobile. It didn't say whom it was from, and it only read this: "Watch channel 2 at 8.30 tonight." She glanced at her watch and turned on the TV. "After the break we've got Bryan McFadden and Annie Johnson coming on. They're here to tell us the truth behind the stories in the papers." the show host said, and Amanda's jaw dropped. She got down on her knees in front of the VCR and quickly found an empty cassette, she put it in the recorder and went over to the sofa. As the commercials ended and the show came back on, she pressed the record button on the remote. "Well, let's start with you Bryan. Tell us about this rumour." The camera zoomed in on his face, and Amanda sighed when she saw his face. This was the first time she'd seen him live since the day she told him to go. Bryan looked into the camera, and it felt like he was looking right at her. "First off I'd like to say that this is nothing but a vicious rumour, and it's not true at all. What happened that night this photo was taken," he said, and the photo of him standing next to the girl appeared on the screen. "Was that the rest of the lads and I had just got back from an interview, and we were heading into our hotel. There were, as there usually is, fans standing outside the hotel. And that was when the picture was taken, Miss Johnson asked if I would mind having my picture taken with her, and I answered that I didn't mind at all. So the picture was taken, and I signed her poster and then I went in with the other lads. I did not sleep with her or anything like that. I have a girlfriend who I love very much, and I would never do anything to hurt her. And as for the hotel staff; they were right in one thing. They did see me walking beside one girl, but that was our make up girl, Cheryl." he explained, and Amanda started crying. "How could I have been so stupid and blind not to see what you were trying to tell me?" she asked the TV set. "Is this true, Annie?" the interviewer asked. "Yes, it is." she said, looking down. "And what about your pregnancy?" The girl, Annie, looked up. "I'm not pregnant. It was a trick." she admitted, and looked into the camera. "And to Bryan's girlfriend; I'm so sorry for what I've done. He's really lucky to have you, and I hope you can someday forgive me. I'm really sorry." Amanda sat staring at the TV, tears rolling down her cheeks. He'd been telling the truth all along, and she hadn't even been bothered to hear him out. How she regretted what she'd done. "That's all we had for today, but be sure to join us again tomorrow. Good night!" She stopped the video, and rewound it. "I have a girlfriend who I love very much, and I would never do anything to hurt her." she heard Bryan's voice say, and she saw the honesty in his eyes. She pressed rewind again, and again. "I have a girlfriend." Half an hour later the doorbell rang, and she paused the video and got up to open. She pushed down the handle, and the door slid open. Bryan stood outside, looking at her. Amanda looked back at him, then fresh tears rolled down her cheeks and she smiled. "Bryan" she stuttered, and his face broke into a smile. He wrapped his arms around her, and hugged her for a long time. "Amanda, I've missed you so much." he said. "Me too. Bryan, listen. I'm sorry for not believing you, I should have known you were telling the truth. You would never have done anything like that. I'm sorry." They walked into the living room, where Bryan's face was frozen on the TV screen. "No, don't be sorry. It wasn't your fault, or mine. So, you saw it?" he nodded to the TV. "Mhm. Yes, I did." she said, and pressed play on the remote. "I have a girlfriend." Bryan's voice said, and she stopped it again. "What about me? Do I still have a boyfriend?" she looked up at him, and he smiled. "Yes, you never lost me. I love you, Amanda." he said. "And I love you, Bryan." He smiled at her, and she smiled back at him as he took her in his arms and kissed her."Marry me, Amanda!" He brushed her hair away from her face and looked into her eyes. "Yes," she said. "Yes, I'll marry you!" Bryan's face lit up like a kid who just got a brand new toy, and she laughed at him. "Do you realise you've just made me the happiest man on earth?" he laughed and hugged her. "Oh, just shut up and kiss me, Bryan!" Amanda giggled, and Bryan put her down and kissed his bride-to-be. |
