| Part 5 (Bryan) I got home, and it was time to leave again. I drove to the house, still wondering how we were going to tell my parents. I pulled up to the house, Ally and the kids were waiting outside for me, and came over to the car. "Hi!" She said as she got in the car. "Hi." "Daddy!" The kids climbed in the back and we drove off. I never realised my hands were shaking as I was driving "Did you call your parents?" "Yeah, last night." "What did you tell them?" "That there was something we wanted to tell them, I didn't say what." I said, as we turned up the driveway. We got out of the car, I stood, looking at the house for a minute, wishing I didn't have to do this. "Bry?" "Yeah, ready for this?" She nodded her head. "Look, we know this is for the best." "Is it?" I asked and looked at her. She just looked at her feet and kicked a stone away. "Ally, is it?" "Bry, the fights..." "Yeah, come on. Let's do this."i said and we walked to the door which mum had already opened to let the kids in. "Hi you two." Mum cried and gave us both a hug. We walked in and sat down beside each other on the sofa. "Tea?" She asked, standing at the door. We both shook our heads, no. "Ice cream?" She asked the kids who had settled in front of tv already. They both nodded and she disappeared. "So, what's wrong?" Dad asked, noticing how nervous I was. "This obviously isn't something good." Just then Mum walked back in, gave the kids ice cream, then sat on a chair beside Dad. "So...." Mum started, smiling at us, obviously she thought it was something else, "what did you guys want to tell us?" "Ummm," I started, "well, Ally and I, well, we've decided to, ummm, separate for a while." I watched as Mum's face fell. "You, you what?" She asked, looking surprised. "We're separating." "But, you can't. What about Dylan and Jessica?" Ally sighed, "we're doing this for them." "What?! You cannot be doing this for them!!" Mum suddenly shouted, surprising everyone. Jessica, who had been watching tv, stood up, ran over to me and buried her head in my lap, crying. We could hear her saying something, "no fights." "Oh my god." Dad whispered, we all stared at her. "Now you see why." I said quietly. They both nodded. I picked Jessica up and gave her a hug until she stopped crying. We spoke for a while, then left to go back. We were in the car, sitting in silence, when Ally said something. "We need to talk things through." "Yeah, we do. Do you want to go for something to eat, then we can talk." She nodded and I drove into town. We went into a quiet cafe, and sat down. "Ok, about the kids first." I started, nervous. "Yeah." "What about us?" Dylan asked with a puzzled look. "Nothing for you to worry about." He seemed ok with this. "I want them to stay with me." Ally said. "We'll have to find somewhere." "I want to be able to see them, have them stay sometimes, when I'm home, maybe take them on a little tour sometime." "Take them on tour?!" She sounded a bit shocked, "Bryan, you couldn't just leave them the second an interview or photo shoot come up, a tour, it's not really the place for kids." "So, you're saying I can't take them?" I got annoyed. "No, just- I don't know." She sighed, "Let's talk about when you're at home." "Ok. Well, obviously I want to see them, have them stay." "I'm not going to stop you seeing them." "Are we still going on tour with you on the 14th?" Dylan asked. We had a 2 week long tour in Florida then. "Ummm, I don't know, you'll have to ask Mummy about that." I looked at Ally, she gave me a stare. "We'll see."she said, we both couldn't help but notice the disappointment on Dylan and Jessica's faces. We had promised them a trip to Disneyworld on the next tour. "I'm sure it would still be ok, I mean, we're still friends....I'm sure we can be in the same room without killing each other." I laughed. "Yeah, I guess." She said, and laughed. I thought that maybe we could try to get it back together during the tour, maybe she thought the same, I don't know. " I suppose some of the papers would find it funny if you took the kids and not the wife, I can't handle them just now." "I know, me either. So, how long do you plan to stay at Derek's?" I asked. "Well, maybe until the tour, then we'll look for somewhere when we come back, if we're still...." She trailed off. I smiled, she thought maybe there was hope too. "Yeah." We finished our dinner and I drove them back to Derek's, and then went back to our house, alone. |
