Part 22 (bryan)

2 weeks later

Today was the day, the results would be out. I hadn't slept all night and decided to get up and watch some tv while I waited for the post. I flicked through the channels, but there was nothing interesting. Just then there was a knock at the door. I looked towards the door, nervously, not moving. Robyn appeared at the top of the stairs.
"Bryan? Can't you hear the door?" She walked downstairs and opened the door. "Hi, could you sign for this. It's a letter for a Bryan McFadden." "Sure."  "Thanks." She walked into the living room and handed me the envelope.
"Letter for you. Do you want me to leave you to it?" I stared at the letter, god, I was terrified. "Ummm, no, just give me a minute." "Ok, I'm going to put the kettle on." She walked into the kitchen.  I slowly opened the envelope, and scanned down for the important sentence. Reading it, my world collapsed. She was his. I buried my head in my hands, just as Robyn came back out.
"Bryan?" I couldn't answer. "God, no. She can't be." "She is." I whispered. She moved in to give me a hug, but I stood up. "Don't, just don't."
"This isn't my fault Bry, I never cheated on you." She
said, annoyed that I had pushed her away.  "Don't talk about her like that." I said, quietly, and walked upstairs. I looked in on the kids, they were still asleep, I looked at Jess, she seemed like a stranger. I felt as though I didn't know her. Just then she woke up.
"Daddy?" She mumbled. "Is that you?" "Yeah, Jess. Go back to sleep, it's still early." I said quietly.
"Ok." She closed her eyes again.  I wandered into the bathroom, and rummaged in the cabinet, I found the sleeping pills. Well, I had screwed up with Robyn, I was going to lose my kids, why bother going on? Slowly, I was unaware that I was sobbing, I pulled the lid off and started to swallow the pills......

(robyn)
I sat downstairs, wishing I hadn't said  what I said, I thought maybe I should try to talk to him, but decided against it. He probably need a little time to cool off, take it in. I sat, just thinking, where do we go from here? "Robyn, why was Daddy crying?"  Jess asked, coming downstairs. "He's just a little bit sad. Is he crying just now?" She shook her head. "He stopped, but I really need to use the bathroom and he wont let me in." She whispered. "Did you tell him you needed in?"
"Yeah, but he's not answering." "He's not?" Fear struck me, what if he had done something drastc, no, he wouldn't would he? "Stay here." I ran upstairs. "Bryan? Open the door!" No answer. "Bryan, I'll break the damn door down!" No answer. "Jess, call Uncle Mark, tell him to come over here now, Daddy might be sick, ok?" "Ok, is he ok, Robyn?" She shouted up. "I think so, just call. You know the number." "Yeah."  I spent the next 10 minutes trying to break down the door and yelling at Bryan to open the door. Mark came running in the front door. "What the hell?"he yelled, seeing me crying at the bathroom door and Dylan and Jess looking worried on the sofa. He ran upstairs. "Bryan!!open the door!!" He looked at me. "What's going on?" "Jess isn't his, he lost it. I don't know if he's ok in there! Mark, get him out! What if-" Mark rammed himself against the door, it didn't budge, next time it flew open. "No!" I heard Mark cry. "Call an ambulance, now!" I called the ambulance, then ran upstairs.
"Mark- Oh my god!" I cried, seeing him lying unconscious, Mark trying to wake him up. "Is he breathing?" "Yeah, just. That ambulance better hurry up." Mark said, panicking. "Why the hell did he do this?! He could've came to us!" I could see tears in his eyes.  "Why didn't you stop him?" "Hey, I didn't know he was going to do this! I thought he was just trying to take it all in, so I gave him some space. I didn't think-" "I know, I'm sorry. I'm just scared." He admitted, almost embarrassed.  "Mark?" Michelle had walked in the front door. "What's happening?" "Ummm, just go in and keep the kids downstairs." He called down. "What is going on up here?" She wandered upstairs. "It's Bryan." Mark sighed. "He's tried to-" "What? Why?"  "I'll explain later. Just go down stairs and keep the kids away from here. The ambulance is coming."she disappeared and I heard her trying to calm the kids down who knew something was wrong.
Just then, paramedics crashed through the front door. "Up here! Quick!" Mark shouted, and stood back to let them through. "What happened?" One of them asked, while the other one checked Bryan over. "Umm...i think he's taken these." I picked up the empty bottle of pills. "How long has he been out of it?" "Couldn't be more than 45 mins." I said, I had let him go upstairs about 45 minutes ago, he must have done it then. "Ok, he's pretty bad, let's get him to the hospital, now!" The other paramedic said. "Right."  And within a few minutes we were ready to go to the hospital....
