| Part 11 (Bryan) I called the others to let them know that I had found a childminder, and that we would all ve coming on the promo throughout the UK. We were prepared for the stories that the media would undoubtably come out with, that we were seeing each other. The stories however didn't come out, much to our surprise, maybe they had finally learned not to bug me. We all stayed in the one hotel, Robyn and the kids in one room, and me in a different room. Robyn took the kids because most nights I didn't get in until it was late, with interviews and appearances. However, Robyn would still be awake most nights when I got back and would let me in to say goodnight to the kids. I knocked the door one night, after another late concert, there was no answer but it was open, so I walked in. She was sleeping on the couch in the room. Her hair was down, she normally wore it up, it struck me how much she looked like Ally when she wore her hair down. I picked her up and went to carry her into her bed. I placed her on the bed when I heard Jess screaming, another nightmare. Robyn woke up and sat up, and we both ran into see her. "Hey, it's ok." I said, waking her up and giving her a hug. "Did you have another bad dream?" Robyn asked her. "Yeah." She sobbed. "Daddy, will you stay here with me tonight?" She asked, still sobbing. "Of course I will." "Ummm, I'll stay in your room tonight." Robyn offered. "No! I want you to stay too." Jess said, looking scared, "don't leave." Robyn looked at me. "I'll crash on the floor." I offered. "No, look, that floor's gonna kill your back. The bed is big enough for two, just stick to your side." She laughed. "Ok." I laughed too, " you don't mind?" She shook her head. "Ok, Jess, you going back to sleep?" She sleepily nodded, and lay down again. Robyn and I sat in silence, while she slowly fell asleep. "Is she asleep, do you think?" I asked. Robyn nodded. "Maybe I should go back to my room." "What if she wakes up?" "Do you think she will?" "Bryan, " Robyn sighed, "this happens 3 or 4 times some nights." "What?" I hadn't realised it was that bad. "Ummm, ok, if you're sure, I can still sleep on the floor...." "It's ok, I'm going into bed now anyway." She yawned, "goodnight." She got up and walked into the room. "I'll just stay here just now." I said. "Ok, night." She called in, quietly. I stayed with Jessica for a while longer, than felt my eyes heavy. I thought about going back into my room, but didn't in case she woke up. I slowly wandered into the bedroom, took off my trousers, and slipped into bed. I fell asleep quickly and woke up the next morning, my arms were around Robyn's waist, I must have done it in my sleep, one of those things I had been used to doing. I realised where I was and who was there with me ands carefully unwrapped my arms, trying not to wake her. She stirred a little, but never woke. It was weird, although nothing had happened between us, I still felt so guilty, as if I was cheating. I slowly got up and pulled on my trousers and wandered still half asleep into the kids room. They were both asleep still, and I decided to wander back into my own room. I just opened the door to Robyn's room and stepped out, when I heard Mark's voice. "Bry, what have you been up to?" He teased, a wide grin spreading across his face. "You and the childminder, eh?" "Nothing Mark." I said, annoyed at what he was implying, "and Mark, her name's Robyn, not 'the childminder'". "Ooooohhh, temper temper." He said sarcastically. "So, honest truth, what were you and 'Robyn' up to then?" "Nothing Mark, get your mind out of the gutter. If you must know, I stayed there for Jess, she was upset...." I paused for a second, "I slept on the floor." I lied. "Ok ok. Just be glad it was me and not ummm Ki for instance that found you, you know what he's like." He laughed. "Yeah, we do, and you're not much better. Do you really think I would do that, so soon after..." She had been dead less than a year, and we all knew it was still too soon to start anything, but why did I feel as though something was happening between me and Robyn? "I'll see you later." Mark said, and disappeared in the direction of breakfast. "Yeah." And I walked back into my room to get changed for the new day ahead. |
