1999 december 29santa mousei don't normally indulge in after christmas sales.
on the other hand, i am not one to turn down a delightful bargain when it falls into my lap. when i was a child, i must have been ten or younger, i received my first santa mouse book. it came at the beginning of a rather serious mouse obsession which resulted in dozens of mouse christmas ornaments over the years, a family nickname [maus] and several stuffed animals. i loved the book and although i thought i was too old for such nonsense, i made my father read it to me on christmas eve. somewhere along the way i also picked up a colouring book, which i still have as well. about half the pages are coloured in, a few of them in a rather heavy outlining style i appeared to favour at some point in my young artistic career. i had always wanted, and looked for, a stuffed version of santa mouse but hadn't had any success. until last night. welcome the newest member of my santa mouse family. at one third its original price it was a steal, though i'd have shelled out even $25 to finally have him. even though it is past christmas, i am going to leave him out until at least the epiphany. it's my mouse and i'll flaunt him if i want to. ho squeak ho, claire
