1999 august 27more quiltingstill no cohesion, or new stories that can carry the weight of an entry all by themselves, so you get a little more quilt; who knew i needed the king size version? an example of the idiotic things that fascinate mefast food wrappers. i am totally enamoured of the way mcdonald's now prints their sandwich wrappers so that you can fold it around something this way and it says egg mcmuffin, or that way and it says sausage mcmuffin or that way and it says bacon egg and cheese biscuit. i want a dozen of them, clean please not used, with which to wallpaper a wall in the kitchen. in which i have a moment where i am not embarrassed by the music i listened to in the 70smy new officemate listens to classic rock stations these days. they seem to play the same ten songs over and over again, or at least the same ten bands, but once in a while i will hear something that sends me back to my youth. more often than not, it is with a cringe at the thought i used to like the song, but sometimes it is just plain cool. today's cool moment was evil woman, by elo. i still like elo. amazing. i do not, however, still like the song life in the fast lane by the eagles. my favorite black shoesanother journaller wrote recently about the power of black shoes. while i have five or six pairs total, there are two that wield supernatural power. or at least they make me feel invincible in different ways. pair one: black sueded doc marten boots, covered in tiny gold glitter polka dots. if i wear these i feel like the coolest hippest chick ever to stroll the streets. i think that if peter buck drove by and saw me in those boots, he'd pull over and give me things, including his undying love, which i would have to turn down, sadly enough, because gene is entirely too wonderful to give up, even for peter buck. i have no envy of skinny little 20 somethings when i am in my boots, no inferiority complex when i walk past women in power suits wearing chunky rolexes, no tugging at my biological clock heartstrings when i pass soccer moms pushing impeccably dressed twins in their blue tartan stroller. they are also damn comfortable. pair two: black sueded platform pumps, with a four inch heel. these are solid shoes, and when i put them on, i tower above 95% of the population. combine them with a short flirty skirt and my more than ample bust and you have the ultimate power getup. bow before me minions! i am amazon woman! they are not so comfortable, although i can wear them all day without too much grief, but the effect is well worth a slight lack of comfort. still scattered but the weekend's in sight, claire
