1999 july 30long weekendmy parents are the absolute coolest.
last night after dinner they handed a little wad of cash to me and gene with the instructions to "get away from your old decrepit parents and have some fun." they raised me right: i always obey my parents. so we are taking off this morning for parts unknown.
i just need to pop into the office to tell them i will be out today, and to handle one short conference call and then we are going to hit the road without any sort of agenda. i am in the mood for zoos and flowers; gene is in the mood for miles and miles and some fast moving water of some sort. i have no doubt we can cram all of the above and even a little bit more into a three day jaunt. i'll be back monday morning. or maybe tuesday, depending on how late we are getting home; we tend to push the envelope on things like this, squeaking out as many vacation and leisure hours as humanly possible. mom, dad, don't throw any wild parties. and remember to feed the cat. and water the plants. and don't eat all the godiva ice cream in the freezer unless you replace it. okay, the ice cream is all yours. off to see the wizard, or at least a road of some sort, claire
