monet and his cathedral

the paintings of the cathedral at rouen are my favorite monets.

i admire obsessiveness in an artist, to some degree; i don't really see the need for cutting off one's ear. so i am fascinated by all the different angles and lighting schemes claude found to paint in this one church. i've done a driveby on the actual cathedral but wasn't able to stop and sit in front of it all day long, waiting and watching for all the paintings to show themselves.
