retraction
i don't want to be proud of myself, i want to whine.
this cough is beginning to irritate me. i thought perhaps tuesday was the hump as i spent most of the morning hacking up things that could have been extras in the latest scifi channel mini series. yesterday morning, i appeared to feel much better and didn't cough hardly at all. yesterday afternoon was another story.
i blame my new officemate, who made me laugh too loud and long. she is not the replacement for the former officemate from hell, but rather someone who is just rooming with me for the moment as we try and find more space for people of her department. anyhow, i don't even remember what it was she said but it was funny enough to send me into hysterics, and halfway through said hysterics, i started to cough. i haven't stopped since.
it's a bit different this time. previously the cough was strong but it didn't really hurt my lungs. it was annoying but not painful. now it hurts. a quiet deep pain with a quiet deep almost inaudible gurgle. i don't have a fever, or any other symptoms, so i don't think it is pneumonia, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be any number of other exotic diseases.
coincidentally, or perhaps not, i have a scheduled doctor's appointment next thursday. with luck i can hold on until then. more likely, the cough will disappear completely next wednesday night, leaving me with nothing but a story to tell the physician. and people wonder why i don't go more often.
