dreams

i hate it when you find something you have been looking for all your life, and it is completely inaccessible. it's the porch that makes it perfect

i have an image in my head of my dream house. it is perfectly square and two stories tall, although sometimes it has a little attic garret as well. it has a porch all the way around the first floor, where i can sit and watch thundershowers in the spring time. i used to do that with my dad as a child. we just had a small porch in the front of the house, but i loved sitting on the ratty old blanket we used for such things, snuggled up against him, flinching deliciously whenever it lightninged and making little happy squeaks when the thunder followed.

there is a porch around the second story as well, so that i can sit in the moonlight, in my pajamas, or maybe not, and watch the stars and the moon. it is near water so i can hear it running by or crashing against the shore. it is on enough land that my neighbours can't easily look into my windows and see what i am doing. it has a separate studio where i can paint and craft and not stink up the whole house with the smell of turpentine or glue or whatever i happen to be playing with.

imagine my surprise when i saw this ad in a local magazine. it was as though someone had read my mind and built claire's house. unfortunately they forgot to build it within claire's budget. if anyone would like to send me about $650,000 i would be ever so grateful.

and i'd let you visit whenever you liked.

nesting in my dreams, claire
