i am a big fat hypocrite.
after all my whining here and elsewhere about hating the star wars hype, weeks laughing at the people who rushed into stores at midnight to buy action figures, day after day after day making fun of all the weekend jedi warriors, i have to now laugh at myself. last night, i bought star wars legos. in my defense, i wanted one of each set, a little desire that would have set me back well over $100. but i managed to curb my avaricious ways and walked out of target with just the one cheap, well, relatively cheap set. a girl just can't turn down a lego lightsaber, can she? now if i could just have a lifesize lego ewan macgregor, all would be perfect in my star wars universe.
we watched the first half of salem's lot on the scifi channel last night. i had forgotten what a cheesefest it was, complete with a sensitive david soul and that kid from james at 15 acting entirely too young for his age. i remember detesting the movie when it first came out, although now i find it somewhat amusing. salem's lot scared the bejesus out of me not the first time i read it but rather the third or fourth time i reread it. i had nightmares for a week about entire towns becoming vampiric and friends popping out from behind closed doors, fangs bared. i still get the shivers when i think of those dreams, they were so realistic and so scary. i am two novels behind mr king at the moment. i have both bag of bones and the girl who loved tom gordon sitting on the living room table. i don't know why i haven't read them yet. maybe i'm just luxuriating in the anticipation. or maybe i've already had too much mr king this decade.
using the force to stay away from the toy store, claire
