the scene: the living room, gene and claire sitting in their respective chairs, eating popcorn and watching a movie, studiously ignoring the fact that half the city is out getting drunk for cinco de mayo, even though same half of country have never even been to mexico..
gene: i never noticed that before.
claire: noticed what?
gene: how you eat popcorn.
claire: what do you mean, how i eat popcorn?
gene: you know, how you eat it like you're a lizard or something.
claire: what?
gene: you don't even know you do it, do you?
claire: do what?
gene: you reach into the bowl and grab a handful of popcorn. then you sort of cup it in one hand and bring it up to your mouth.
claire: and?
gene: and then your tongue flicks out, and a piece of popcorn sticks to it and you pull it back in. slurp! no more piece of popcorn. except it's not really slurp! it's more like snap!
claire: i do no such thing!
gene: yep, you do. you don't even really need your fingers, nor your hand, you know. you could just put the bowl right up to your face and pick off the popcorn piece by piece.
claire: pick this up piece by piece!
fade out as the popcorn flies.
