just taxes. funding something or other. at least with property taxes i know my dollars aren't attached to bombs destroying serbian television

i have to mail my property taxes this morning, and while i'm sure i'm benefiting in some manner or another from the money i send them every six months, i still do it begrudgingly. i would much rather take that money and buy the digital camera i've been lusting after. or fly to london--my fare tracker tells me i can go to london for a mere $300.

spending large amounts of money without something tangible to show for it always irks me, so i must find something amusing to distract me. i should have written the check on sunday evening.

does anyone else find fox's family guy brilliantly subversive? from a castrated teenage cultist declaring, "i miss my 'nads," to an alcohol swigging naked bert jumping angrily out of the bed he had been sleeping in with an equally naked ernie, to the mad scientist baby, this show consistently has me looking over at gene in disbelief, just before laughing aloud hysterically. coupled with a simpsons season that is as good as it has ever been, i finally have my own hour of must-see tv.

i love cartoons. i still watch them on saturday morning even though they don't live up to the ones i watched as a child. of course, i am most likely remembering them much funnier than they were; i was even more easily amused as a child than i am now.
