Despite the beauty of each person in the Trouillefou family, maeko appealed the most to Matt. He was the first Trouillefou Matt met, and definitely not the last. With the help of a few new friends along the way Matt is able to admit to himself that he is gay. When he can take no more of the abuse from his uncle, Matt moves in with the Trouillefous and begins to see the world as so much more than just a cold abysmal plain.
