The K-8 guide uses the same information in the Sequence but breaks it down month by month. It is first divided by grade, then month, and finally by topic. It also has months where the subject is "teachers choice".
To order the K-8 Planner follow the hyperlink to the bottom of the page.
The K-8 guide is perfect for those who want each year broken down in a month by month basis. It also is great for unit studies since often the topics within the month correlate well with each other (but not always). This plan is easy to implement and there are months in which certain topics are "teachers" choice so you or your child can pick a topic to explore.
One great benefit for the K-8 Guide is that it is very similar to the free lessons produced by BCP. At the beginning of each month you can go to the BCP site and review the lesson ideas and print off those you like.
If you have more than one child and want to correlate, it is almost impossible to use this as a source. If you want to see if there are any "science" topics that match, you must go month by month and write down the topics covered for each grade and then develop your own plan. When it comes time to cover the plan you will have to remember in which month the topic was covered. One way to ease some of this work is to go to the Core Knowledge website and print a copy of their "basic sequence" then all you need to do is find the month in which it is set.
