Pure quercetin supplements should be used. A product that contains both quercetin and vitamin C can be used in Phase 1 dosing but it is not mandatory. You can buy the quercetin and vitamin C separately and take them at the same time. This is in fact desirable because you can control your dose of Vitamin C. Cranberry is very high in quercetin and is available in vitamin and health food stores and can be used instead of pure quercetin.
The co-factor for quercetin is vitamin C which can be bought in health food
stores or on the world wide web.
Be aware that once you have entered Phase 1, you are committed to stored quercetin - you can't get rid of it. It will eventtually decay, but you will get side-effects from any vitamin C and any food containing Vitamin C for a month or two.
Because there is no possibility of viral resistance dosing does not have to be exact and a person can tailor doses to find the individual maximum tolerable doses. Although I have attempted to give approximate doses, the important thing is to get the ringing sound in the head and keep it going. This is only noticeable at night when it's quiet.
Alternate Phase 1 and Phase 2
Phase 1
You must take quercetin or cranberry with vitamin C - at the same time. Chew up the tablets and drink a half cup of water with the tablets. If you are also taking spirulina the half cup of water will suffice for both the quercetin, spirulina with the vitamin C and calcium.
Take quercetin and vitamin C twice a day morning and evening - 500mg quercetin plus 4 grams vitamin C an hour before meals on an empty stomach. If useing cranberry take 6 tablets of cranberry with the 4 grams of vitamin C. Hay Fever and Sinus Formulas can also be used because they contain a large amount of quercetin. Typically a tablet of Hay Fever and Sinus Formula contains 300mg of Quercetin, so 2 tablets can be used.
This phase is 3 days
Explanation
When quercetin is taken with vitamin C, the quercetin is stored in your body for
weeks. Every daily dose of quercetin and vitamin C will result in the quercetin
being added to the store of quercetin already in your body - it will accumulate
day after day. This is completely unlike the existing HIV drugs, which must be
replaced, day after day. The purpose of this phase is to accumulate a store of
quercetin. There will also be anti-viral activity.
Phase 2
In this phase you take Vitamin C only 4 grams.
Take the vitamin C twice a day in the morning and evening.
This phase lasts one day.
Explanation
The daily dose of vitamin C will react with the stored quercetin accumulated in
Phase 1 to create a glycoside form of quercetin which will be absorbed into
cells and cycle.
Both Phase 1 and Phase 2
For the rest of the day keep vitamin C, including foods high in vitamin C to a minimum, especially at night or you will have problems with sleep.
Avoid the following foods for the rest of the day especially at night because they contain high amounts of quercetin: everything in the onion family and apples. If you don't do this you may have problems with sleep, so you can experiment with this if you like to see if you can tolerate it. Also avoid any other herbal preparations.
Detailed Explanation
Because active drug is created by a reaction between two substances - quercetin and vitamin C, either substance can limit the amount of active drug created. Repeated dosing of quercetin will result in an accumulation of a store of quercetin in the body. This store can "overflow" as in my experiment 2. Because there is no possibility of viral resistance the dosage of vitamin C can be individually tailored. A person can experiment to find the maximum tolerable dose which does not cause insomnia.
There is a range of stored quercetin from a minimum to a maximum that will
provide an adequate amount to react with daily doses of vitamin C. Amount of
stored quercetin does not have to exact. A possible indicator of optimum stored
quercetin is a ringing sound in the head at night, preferably on one side of the
head only. This is completely painless.
