 Goals and Objectives-

Students should know the causes of the War of 1812 and should recognize what actions taken by both Britain and the United States that furthered the cause of war.  Students should be able to answer such questions as: What British practices made there be a lot of anti-British sentiment felt by Americans?, What are some of the actions taken by the U. S. that we taken offensively by the British?.  Students will take this knowledge and organize it in two (2) to three (3) slides on PowerPoint.

 Connections-

By meeting the goals and objectives students should be able to make several observations.  Students should be able to connect the different events that took place prior to the War of 1812.  Students should also see how these events shaped the opinions of the majority of the American people and how they felt about going to war with Britain.

Context-

This lesson is a part of a series of lessons that will make one presentation.  This unit is focused on the War of 1812 and why it was such an important event in American history.  This lesson is important in this unit because it makes the student aware of the causes of the war and why it was so important.
