Civil War in America
Brother Fighting Brother

On April 18th, 1861, Fort Sumter was fired upon. Major Robert Anderson had decided that the fort was out of control. What he didn't know was that, following this decision, six hundred and twenty thousand others would die. Whether right or wrong, Anderson had made a choice that would precede a great struggle. Of the 3.8 million who participated in the conflict, over four hundred and twelve thousand would sustain wounds.
Whether the central cause of the war was the issue of slavery or involved states' rights, is still being debated. History presents both arguments adequately and historians argue heatedly. The war pitting brother against brother would last from 1861 to 1865 and change American scenery for eternity. When the first major battle of the bloody debate, the first Bull Run, would end, five thousand would die.
Sit back and look through this portfolio. It was constructed for my course in American history and is one of three sites used in conjunction with our studies. I say ours, because no one stops learning, not even me. I will as long as I can.
