UNIFORMS - Confederate
Civil War uniforms helped distinguish the soldiers from the Union and the Confederacy. Early in the war, the uniforms were provided by the individual states, towns and wealthy individuals. This resulted in a variety of colors and styles, on both sides. However, over time, blue became the official color of the Union, and gray became the official color of the Confederacy. Here are a few examples of what typical uniforms for the Confederacy looked like.
