When the playing fields of Launceston are not being actively used they add to the overall greenery of the city.
There has much careful thought put into the siting of Launceston sportsgrounds so that people in all suburbs have access to playing fields for sporting fixtures or areas for neighbourhood games.
Favourite sportsgrounds include the historic Ogilvie Park provided to the people of Invermay by former Tasmanian Premier Ogilvie,regrettably this park has been sold to private interests.
Other sportsgrounds include York Park Football Oval,which has recently been upgraded to AFL standard.This ground is
popular with AFL and VFL teams each year.
