Launceston people like to sit outside and have a drink , or a meal from the many restaurants and bars around the City. The Malls and The Civic Square are popular places to gather for a coffee or a meal. There also many places right on the footpath to sit and people watch with a long black or cafe latte. There is much interest in Launceston at the moment in the latest project for a tram cafe in the Brisbane St Mall. Launceston Entrepreneur,Roger Smith wishes to present Launceston with a gift of a mall water feature and tram cafe for it's Bicentenary in 2004 . This is to be discussed by the Launceston City Council on Monday April 14,following that meeting the normal processes of public consultation is expected.
