It would be far better to have a tram capable of being driven than reliant on towing.
I ask in respect of Roger Smith's proposed Tram Cafe whether it might be appropriate  for the Federal and State Governments to provide a gift to Launceston of a light rail network  around the CBD so that the tram does not have to be towed away each night
This would lessen the inconvenience to motorists and other Mall Users  when it is being transported.
Other operational questions include:
A track would also enable a mobile tram cafe operation for special events  such as Streets Alive , The Festivale or the Royal Launceston Show .
What will be the actual size of the footprint of this enterprise in the Mall?
Will there be any wind tunnel created from the extended roof?
Will we be denied an unencumbered view upper parts of the mall architecture   How will access be gained to the roof areas of the mall buildings in  the event of fire or other emergency?
Will there be barriers around an area for patrons coffee tables ,with advertising signage.
Will there be shade umbrellas, bearing advertising signs?
Will there be any impact on the enjoyment of the historic buildings  in the mall?
What food and beverages will be supplied from the tram cafe, will the menu be more of an  economic proposition for city workers' lunch times? Will the tram cafe offer menus to satisfy a high volume take away market, and provide seating for takeaway customers.
What level of consultation has there been with the existing cafes in  the Mall, including Pages and the Coffee Republic?  Has there been a broader consultation with other CBD coffee shops?
Will all food and beverages be consumed from reusable crockery and glasses?
What is the current status of the agreement to issue a 20 year licence for use of The Mall?
Will there be carbonated beverages and alcohol sold from non-  returnable cans and bottles ----- if so will there be recycling  facilities put in place in the Mall for use by the patrons and the  operator?
Will the tram cafe operations cause restrictions on use of the mall  by community groups?
