Deeper ....

You plunge deeper into the stifling heat of this wondrous jungle, and suddenly, all at once, the weather is perceptibly cooler! Allowing yourself a happy sigh, you look around more closely at your surroundings. The earth is black, sticky and damp. The leaves and stems of the varied plants are thick, glossy, and bright. The air is, while cooler, still heavy and slightly misty. The ground below your feet is almost invisible while coated in the shifting mist milling around your ankles. The trees here stand taller and the light sparkles through in thin shafts. As a shaft of light hits the earth near your feet, you see there is a small pool pilled with turquoise water, being emptied into by a tiny waterfall. The pool is surrounded by lapis-lazuli stones, and encircled by large, healthy ferns. Suddenly feeling the wear of this journey on your mortal self, you kneel, almost collapse in front of the pool, and cup your hands, plunging them into the sparkling water. Rinsing your hands, face, arms and legs and dumping the rest of the cool liquid down your throat, you feel greatly refreshed. Suddenly, your eyes begin to sag, and so do your limbs. You fall asleep before you lie down on the soft ferns.

You are standing in the jungle again, but everything is bright emerald green, as if seeing everything through a prism of green glass. Blinking, you see an indistinct shape nearby, drinking from another pool. You raise your hand, and open your mouth, but no sound comes out, and your arm feels too heavy to lift. The creature seems to see you anyway, and rears, pawing the air, and dashes off into the thick foliage. You feel a pang of regret at the opportunity lost, but let it go. You then notice, in the creature's former spot, is a set of glowing white runes, encircled in rainbow light. Stepping forward, you unconsciously clutch the dragon claw at your throat, and are surprised that you can understand the strange writing!

"Well done, travelling one! You have found your way to the Shaft of Green! You see, this world has a Prism of Life, and there are secret entrances to each opening of the rainbow shaft, which unlocks powers beyond any control. This, as you may have guessed, is the shaft of green. Anyway, there is a reason you are here. It may seem frivolous, but as no mortal creature from my realm may enter the Shafts, so I have had to resort to sending you a message this way. We are now the proud fosterers of an Okichi from Okichi Orphanage. Well, this spell takes a great deal of my strength, so I must end it, but heed well what I have told you!"

You blink, and find yourself back in the jungle from which you started. In a secluded space of the small glade, you see there is a small cluster of toys and other objects.
The variety of of the items is dazzling. The beanies are adorable, and the fruit looks tantalizing. As you bend to look more closely at the beanies, a small shape darts from behind the tree and stares at you, blinking huge eyes.
She looks up at you, and squeaks. "I'm Puki, an Okichi from The Okichi Orphanage. This is my home....those are my childhood things, feel free to look at them, I don't play with them very much anymore, but I do sometimes, when I'm not exploring," she tells you, looking smug. You grin. A loud crash from somewhere in the trees makes her shiver, and after a moment, she disspears into the trees agaim. You look around, searching in the bushes and such, but find nothing. As you turn, dejected, to return to the spot where you first met Puki, you see another of these Okichi creature standing there, a little male with dragon wings.
He turrns, grinning at you. " I'm Gikko, a new addition to the Okichi sanctuary here. I came around to visit Puki today, but it looks like something scared her off...." He says, his voice trailing off. The two of you wait for her for awhile, but it seems the loud noise scared her off, so, this decided, you start walking....
