What had just happened in there, Livvie asked herself. There weas just an extremely weird moment between herself and Jack. Maybe an iota of attraction? She remembered hearing from some movie about how opposites attracted. These two were definately opposites. Livvie stood outside their hotel room. Nah, it wasnt attraction. Couldnt be. It seemed like the girls were destined to be with each of the guys at home, so Livvie was destined to be with Peter, right? She shook her head. There was nothing there. Maybe she oughta try and convince the girls to let her stay in there room. She would even sleep on the floor. Livvie moved away from the door and walked down the hallway unaware that Jack was peeking at her through the door.
"It was really strange." Livvie said explainly the Tanqueray incident to the girls. Once she started telling her story, she figured there was no way the girls would let her stay in the room without knowing the full story. "We were at each other like we had been since we met, then all of a sudden we were'nt...uh anything." Livvie said putting her hands on her face. "I don't know whats wrong with me."
"I think I do. Maybe you miss Peter so much you are mentally latching onto the only other man in our presence and not even knowing it." Karen said. "You are right, there is no attraction there."
"I don't know." Chea said smiling. "Maybe Livvies got a crush." She said playfully.
"I absolutely have no infatuatory feelings toward that man." Livvie said feeling her face tighten up.
"I think she protests too much." Chea laughed a little. "I'm sorry, that was hard to resist."
"Thats all right." Livvie said. "Can I stay in your room? He can have as many off-brand potato crisps he wants. I don't want to stay in there." Livvie said. "Plus in my time a man and a woman arent supposed to share a room unless they are sharing other occupancies as well."
Chea wrinkled her nose in a "huh?" expression.
"She means married folk." Karen said. Livvie nodded. "Things were very different back then." She stretched. "We ought to go to bed. We gotta get going early in the morning to get to the Mall."
"Who knows if she even stayed there." Chea said. "Not everyone is shop till you drop."
"From what I hear this mall is so large you can get easily lost." Livvie said. "Maybe they even have hotel space in there."
"Wouldnt surprise me." Chea laughed. "Night."
"Night." Livvie and Karen said. Livvie took a bag and made a improvised sleeping bag on the floor.
"Are you sure you dont mind sleeping down there?" Chea asked.
"I slept on a lot of floors in my day." Livvie said. "I'm fine."
"Okay." Chea said. She turned off the light.
8:00 a.m.
Chea rolled over on the cot. She was startled as she heard a loud noise. She sat up quickly as she realized that she herself had made the noise and had fallen on the ground. She rubbed her side.
"Ow." She looked over where Livvie was sleeping. Her blanket was all over the place. Chea got up and looked around, then poked Karen in the side.
"Whoevers doing that has to have a bacon muffin for me, or they're history." She muttered.
"Livvies gone." Chea said.
