This course is designed for those individuals who are looking to learn basic Texas Hold’em skills. This course will help you understand the game of poker and also teach you how to make money at it.
This course will begin on January 6, 2003 and will conclude on February 6, 2003. We will meet at the training casino Gamblers Connection. Class meets every Friday and Saturday evening from 7 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. You will need to bring a deck of cards and chips (not potato) for all sessions, but on the last night of class we will be using real money. Gamblers Connection does provide the table tops and dealers.
It is expected that all students will arrive on time and come with a fun attitude and ready to learn how to play Texas Hold’em. It is assumed that all students have some understanding on the general principles of poker. After the first four to six classes, students should be able to play in a mock game without any assistance from the instructor. All casino rules are enforced. Absolutely no cussing, sidebetting, ripping of cards or belittling other players for what you may consider poor play!
Students will receive feedback on their poker skills in the 6th class session. Once feedback has been given, all students will be assigned a group based on skill level. Students will have the opportunity to watch videos of past World Series Poker Tournaments to enable them to better understand the importance of reading other players and knowing when "hold'em and when to fold'em".
