September Full Moon Ritual

(Harvest Moon)

Leader: If we are all here, let us gather into the circle area taking your positions.

*Everyone goes to the circle area and waits for the leader to cast the circle and leader takes sword from altar*

Leader: With this sword I cast this circle.

*Leader walks around the circle with the sword casting it*

Leader: May this circle be cleansed and blessed.

*Leader takes their place in the circle*

Leader: Let us call the elements.

*Person in the North calls the element of Earth*

    All: Welcome and blessed be.

*Person in the East calls the element of Air*

    All: Welcome and blessed be.

*Person in the South calls the element of Fire*

    All: Welcome and blessed be.

*Person in the West calls the element of Water*

    All: Welcome and blessed be.

Leader: Now let us call on the Great Divine. This Esbat night we call on you oh Great Divine. Come to our sacred circle and bless it with your presence. Welcome and blessed be.

    All: Welcome and Blessed be.

Leader: The circle has been cast.

*Leader goes to altar and picks up an acorn.*

Leader: This acorn is a tiny thing that holds great promise for the future. From something so small comes something great. It offers strength and endurance. Tonight this acorn will be symbolic of the gifts we offer the world and each other.

Cup the acorn between your palms in front of your chest. Let your thoughts and energy flow into is as you think of what you wish for others and the gifts this acorn represents. You may wish someone the gift of good health, you may offer someone the gift of your friendship, or you may wish that a person receive the strength to deal with a challenge in his or her life.

Once the acorn has gone around to the point of each person having passed it to each other person in the group we will then place the acorn in a box to be planted in the spring. I will go first.

*The acorn is passed around from member to member with wishes and gifts said aloud.*

Leader: This acorn has completed its journey in this circle. May we all go to the altar and sign our initials or symbols on it. After which we will put in away until the first signs of spring.

*Everyone signs the acorn and the last person then places it in a small box that is labeled: Plant in Spring 2007*

Leader: It is now time to move back to our everyday world. Close your eyes and let the energy that has been raised return to Mother Earth. AS you feel it spiral down, touch your energy to Mother Earth and feel her balance. Let it bring you to center. When you are ready, open you eyes.

Let us now thank and dismiss the elements and the divine for joining us here tonight.

Thank you great divine for joining us in our sacred circle this night. We ask for your blessing as you depart, and bid you farewell. Blessed be.

All: We bid you farewell. Blessed be.

*Person in the West dismisses the element of Water*

All: We bid you farewell. Blessed be.

*Person in the South calls the element of Fire*

All: We bid you farewell. Blessed be.

*Person in the East calls the element of Air*

All: We bid you farewell. Blessed be.

*Person in the North calls the element of Earth*

All: We bid you farewell. Blessed be.

Leader: The circle has been dismissed, bus is never truly broken. Let us now go inside for some homemade non-alcoholic mead and snacks.
