Feast of Anahit Ritual Tues, April 11th, 2006 Color of the day: Red Incense of the day: Ginger Today is the Feast of Anahit, the Armenian goddess of love and of lunar mysteries. Known as the Golden Mother, she was worshipped in temples equipped with statues of pure gold. Her loyal followers left offerings of roses and doves to her. Meanwhile, Anahit bestowed her blessings on people by sprinkling them with rosewater. Honor Anahit today by decorating your altar with roses or by burning some rose-scented incense. Plan to cook Middle Eastern foods today —especially dishes such as kheer, a rice pudding flavored with rosewater and cardamom. Chocolate coins covered with gold foil are a whimsical modern touch beloved of many goddesses and their followers! Say this prayer today in the hopes you can attract Anahit’s particular favor on her day: 'Golden mother, Woman of roses, Shower me with petal-soft blessings.
