Keeping Pets Safer

OATS

ITCHING
If your cat likes baths, try old-fashioned oatmeal soap
to combat the scratching.

Or, dab a little warm oatmealon the affected areas.

Anxiety / Stress
When your pet suffers from stress or anxiety try a combination
of the extracts of Oats, Valerian, and Chamomile.

Rub a little lavendar oil near the animal's muzzle, or place
some on a cotton pad in the pet's bed or in her/his sleeping area.

And remember that if you are stressed, the animal will be too,
so sniff a little of that calming lavendar for yourself as well.

Annual grass is widely cultivated for its edible grain.

Fibrous root produces a hollow, jointed stem from 2 to 4 feet high
with more or less rough, pale green, narrow, flat leaves.

Flowers are arranged in a loose terminal panicle from 6 to 12 inches
long which consists of (usually) two-flowered spikelets
from 3/4 to 1 inch long.

The hairy, grooved grain is narrow, with almost parallel sides.

The parts of this herb typically used include the seeds and the stem.

The common name Oat includes the species avena fatua,
which is used interchangeably with avena sativa.

The genus name, Avena, is derived from Latin and means
'nourishing.'
Sativa means 'cultivated' and the fatua variety is 'wild.'
