Marriage Daze

Chapter 22: Sister, Sister

Notes: From Adam’s point of view.

The bouncer at the club refused to let them in to the club. Guy’s so-called ‘plan’ hadn’t exactly been a hit. Fred was angry with Cecilia for stealing his ID, and Charlie was frustrated because he considered the girls as his responsibility. Adam was just tired.

“You know, I could report this,” Charlie whined. “They let three fourteen-year-old girls in, but they refuse to let us in? If it was that ordinary bouncer, we would already be inside!”

“We usually don’t go out on Tuesday’s, maybe that’s the problem?” Fred muttered. “We can go here tomorrow and...”

“Hello! Are you listening to yourself? Why go here tomorrow? The girls are lost today!” Guy shouted. “Connie is lost today!”

“Yeah, we know.”

Adam yawned again. “I have an idea! Let’s get back to school.”

“Why?” Fred asked. “You think they’re back?”

“No, I want to sleep,” Adam explained. “Besides, they’ll show up. Why worry about them? Cecilia is with them.”

Fred looked at him with a doubtful expression on his face.

“Yes, I know that sounded strange,” Adam admitted. “But it’s true, she would never get them into trouble. She only gets herself into trouble all the time.”

“Yes, let’s go back,” Charlie said. “If they get into trouble, they’ll call. They might not even be here. We’re just assuming that they are. If they’re not back tomorrow, let’s worry then, okay?”

“Tomorrow?!” both Fred and Guy exclaimed.

Adam began walking back, and Fred and Guy objected the whole way. No wonder their girlfriends were gone, they probably got tired of all the complaints. Anyone would be.

Notes: From Sarah’s point of view.

Yes, things were definitely getting out of hand.

Luckily, Connie had gotten over that ‘gotta-have-revenge-on-Guy’ routine, so she’d calmed down a couple of notches. Julie refused to go home, that was the down part. Cecilia had been coaxing a long time, but without succeeding. Sarah had tried too, but without any result.

They were all sitting by the bar; talking about the sort of mess they’d gotten themselves into. The guys had probably worried sick, and by now they’d told Coach Bombay and Mike that they’d lost the girls. Sarah could just imagine what Muck would say when he found out...

“How long do you think it’d take before our parents find out about this?” Connie asked. “Two hours? One? Twenty minutes?”

“Hey, Mike never calls my parents when I get into trouble,” Cecilia objected.

“Maybe it’s because he knows that it would do more damage then good?” Connie suggested. “And because you’re the coach’s pet? He always takes your side and protects you. It’s annoying.”

“Well, so are you,” Cecilia muttered. “I’m not the coach’s pet. They all hate me for making trouble, and I always take your side when you get in trouble. Because that’s what assistant captains do!”

“Alright already!” Sarah shouted. “Shut up!”

She looked at Connie. “Be glad that she got you out of the situation with those guys.”

“But...”

“And you, you’re still drunk, so you shouldn’t talk at all,” Sarah continued, this time turned to Cecilia.

“Fine,” they both hissed back.

Connie stood up. “I’m getting something more to drink. Wait here until I get back, okay? I’ll be back in... Ooops.”

Sarah looked up. Connie had just lost her balance and tumbled into some guy. He grabbed her arm and Connie winced. “Sorry, it was an accident,” she told him.

“I got beer all over my clothes,” the guy said angrily. “Do you know how expensive this jacket is?”

“I’m sorry!” Connie replied. “I didn’t mean to. Let go of my arm.”

The guy pulled her closer and almost made her fall. Sarah decided to cut through. “Look, it was just an accident. We can pay for your... jacket and stuff,” Sarah tried.

Cecilia also got up from her chair. “Just let go of her, okay?” she hissed. “She didn’t do anything.”

“Mind your own business, I think we can solve this without your help,” the guy muttered.

Connie tried to get free, and some people at the table next to them got up to help. Sarah grabbed Connie’s other arm to hold her back. “C’mon let go of her now. Let’s not make it worse then it is.”

The guy put his hand at Connie’s chin and knocked her backwards, and this time she fell down on the floor. Sarah hurried to help her up, so they could get out of there, but Cecilia had other plans. She gave Connie one worried look, and then she threw a punch right at the guy’s face. He stumbled backwards in pure surprise.

Sarah closed her eyes.

Yes, things were definitely getting out of hand.
