Our Second Adventure...

One year after...  We had finished our first quest, but this is where we said goodbye to Kerrick the fighter, Joshua the Paladin, Jason the Cleric and Thorass the Sorcerer.  Joshua set off on another path, Jason went to find glory and wealth with his brother Kerrick and Thorass vanished into thin air!  On a positive note we encountered three new adventurers ready to join us, as they had heard of our great exploits.  Enter Daïnak the Fighter, Davnan the Necromacer and Flint our pyro Cleric.  With these new additions we spent one year doing odds and ends (leveled up quickly. Thanks DM, but that was too easy, now I am worried).

In a very similar fashion as our early beginnings, we all ended up being teleported by force to an unknown place where we had no armor or weapons and were held in rooms.  We were finally met by Dorvak who was very imposing, but apologized for his methods, indicated that we had nothing to fear and all of our equipment was being cleaned and readied for us.

The journey our group has been on is one of danger and adventure leading to some loss and some rewards.  Below is a brief history of our exploits.

Our First Adventure...

Before our current party we were 9.  The different characters of our previous adventure...  Kerrick the fighter, Joshua the Paladin, Jason the Cleric and Thorass the Sorcerer.

It all started... We were 9 adventures walking down a path, fully armed and ready for anything, anything except what happened to us.  We were overtaken by a green creature that covered us in a sticky net like substance, all of us were stuck and then everything went black.  It all seemed surreal and as if we had been dreaming.  One by one we awoke, unarmed, torn robes on our backs and in a prison cell on a ship...  There was a Half-Orc female named Shautah, a Gnome magician called Zook, a creature named Klak in a hold and some henchmen on deck.  We ended up spending a few days in prison before we took our chance at grabbing one of our captors in order to break free.  This was not until after one of our party was taken to spend the night with a beautiful woman...  Then a scream... then we discovered that she was just under a polymorph spell and it was the Half-Orc...  Poor Joshua the Paladin of our party  :)  Now that we had eliminated all but the Gnome, we were free to do what we wanted, but we were lost at sea.  We found our way to the port city of Alagn where we were held in prison by city officials due to our suspicious looking group.  Once freed we uncovered a Thieves guild which worshipped Nerul, we infiltrated and dismantled it after much effort.  Once we were able to get a few bits of information as to what was happening to us (why were we captured) we set off to Jarthrin's Jump by horse as we were told we could get a bigger part of what we needed to know at that location.  We tipped the bartender of the Dark Rock Tavern very heavily, got the information we wanted then set back off for Alaghôn.  One of the people who we suspected of being at the bottom of our initial capture and surely knew why, was Tarscheva Longreach.  She was spotted at the Orc's Nest tavern putting on a dance number.  While in the tavern we discovered that we needed to head out to the Island of Prespur, we would surely discover who had captured us and why at this location.

One foggy night on our way to Prespur, we encountered a phantom ship full of undead, after a long, difficult battle we were able to search the ship.  We opened 2 locked doors where a few of us were knocked out by poison gas so we had to be dragged back to our boat.  Those that were not affected found a magical sword, a magical amulet and some miscellaneous items.  During the initial battle, one of the undead was using a large sword.  After we had finished searching the ship, Joshua picked it up and “discovered” that it was evil, it possessed him, he went on a killing spree where he almost killed Cade (ie -10).  By 6am we had exited the ghost ship, but left the cursed sword there, the sun came up and the ship vanished into thin air.  The cursed sword was lost to the sea.

We landed on what we were not sure was Prespur.  The boat landed on the beach, was damaged and needed to be repaired which would take a day or two.  We walked through the jungle towards some smoke (about 2 or 3 days away).  After saving Cade from being dragged into a Giant Lizard hole we rested in a clearing where those on watch were put to sleep.  The next morning we woke to find that Jason and Sinjin were missing from the group.  We journeyed to the village and found out it was a cannibal Pigmy village.  It was surrounded by a 100’ clearing and a 15’ high fence with several guard towers reaching about 20’ in height.  We got in via a hole in the fence that Bayne created and saved Sinjin from being eaten (he was in a stew pot being warmed up).  Jason was on a stick waiting to be roasted the next day.  Once the Pigmies were defeated we freed our team mates and found several items (potions, wand, etc.).  We saw towers in the distance so… we decided to take another 2 or 3 day walk.  The towers were guarding a crossing of a deep chasm.  We had to answer 5 riddles for a bridge to appear.  The alternative was to walk around, lose lots of time and fight some serious monsters.  Needless to say we answered the riddles and crossed.

After crossing the chasm the forest was not as dense as it was before.  We noticed smoke on top of another mountain so… we decided to take another 2 or 3 day walk.  We climbed the mountain where the smoke was originating and we saw a 10’ diameter hole where the smoke was rising from, it smelt of oil .  Bayne was lowered down on a rope where, far below, he saw a very large round room with a 10’ diameter fire pit.  Beside the fire was a 10-15’ long monster that looked like a 3 headed, winged dragon, sleeping on branches.  On the other side was a weapon smith’s table and tools.  Joshua and Kerrick pulled Bayne back out.  We climbed down the mountain and walked around until we found a way in.  It was a path cut into the side of the mountain with very high vertical walls.  The entrance was closed by a gate, behind were stairs and a square stone path.  The stones were traps which caused projectiles to fly out of holes in the walls, 10 holes on each side wall at shoulder height.  The holes were blocked by Cade using Spider Climb.  We still managed to set off a trap which made noise and made a Giant Wasp come out of a magical portal near the door towards the back of the entrance.  We killed the wasp and all of us crossed and we entered  We found a Metal Golem and defeated it.  We entered the main room with the fire pit where we fought Barbe Jaune and his pet which almost killed us.  We found several items including a note to Barbe Jaune from Tarscheva Longreach.  The note from Longreach said that she might not meet him on time to travel together so she asked Barbe Jaune to kill Shautah to get back her 5000GP, to take the planned path and meet somewhere.  We found a booby-trapped room that was full of chests, some had scrap in them, others had gold and one had bronze.  We swapped chests of gold with rocks and bodies and left the bronze there.  With a drawing found we saw that there was a hidden door below the trap room, so we pulled all the chests and junk form the room with rope and discovered the entrance to the dungeons FROM HELL!!!

The dungeons were long, dark and completely confusing.  We walked for several days exploring the various corridors and hidden rooms.  Not long into it we encountered cat like creatures and got swarmed by rats so we cleaned house.  After going around and around, back and forth, up and down, we came upon a split (tunnel continued, but 20’ above).  We sent Cade and Kerrick; they found a river about 20’ across that flowed at a fair speed.  Further left, down river, was a recess in the opposite wall with some objects glinting in the light from the lantern.  Cade was sent across to investigate and this is where the fun starts.  Cade got to the opening in the wall; it was a small area with tons of gold and piles of bones so Cade decided to search.  A transparent vaporous creature attacked him, lifted him off the ground and started sucking on him (his blood…  get your mind out of the gutter).  A difficult battle ensued which nearly took a few of us, but we defeated the creature.  We were running out of food and oil so Kerrick, Joshua and Sinjin went back to Barbe Jaune’s place to fill up 2 chests with reserves of food and pints of oil.  While  they were away the rest healed our wounded.  We loaded up 2 chests of gold and Kerrick, ah Kerrick what can we say…  He loaded up his tent with gold!!!  We continued on our way, stopping here and there.  One stop included an oval room with a stone cylinder in a hole in the floor, there were several holes lining the ceiling and a lever in the back of the room.  Cade and Bayne decided to pull the lever with a rope from outside the room.  Basically it exploded and burnt them to a nice crisp black.  We finally made it to a room with a door which had sounds behind it, we opened the door and it lead into a foggy outdoor, cemetery.  Upon entering the cemetery the fog lifted and several undead approached.  Since we took too long arguing about what to do they came down on us and attacked.  Some of the undead were ethereal and fighters had no effect.  Cade was attacked and drained of 5 Constitution points.  With difficulty, we defeated the undead.  Point to remember; don’t argue about what to do…  Vote and do it.

The weather cleared, it was sunny and we noticed a small rock protruding from the sand on the beach to the south.  As we walked we noticed skeletons in the sand.  Climbing the rock Carek saw our boat in the distance; we went to the boat where we found a skeleton, not moving, in a climbing position on the side of the boat.  The boat was dusty and the captain’s chamber door had a broken window.  It seems like the undead searched the boat.  We fixed and cleaned the boat, then finally dislodged it from the sand and headed for the city of Procampur to the North.  The next day Bayne, and ????????? felt ill and started to look like their skin was going to fall off.  They became demented and lost reason.  A disease from the undead Wraith(?) affected them.  They took temporary Wisdom and Constitution damage.  Jason cast Lesser Restoration to give back some Constitution to Bayne since he was close to death.  Joshua cast Remove Disease on ?????????.  We were all healthy and ready except for Cade who needed a serious healer to restore his permanent Constitution loss.  The rest of the journey to Procampur was uneventful.

We arrived at Procampur which looked less hospitable and less clean that Alaghôn.  It was an open port, no walls, so we docked and headed directly to a temple to heal Cade.  We stopped at Steve’s Bar and spoke to the barman named……. Steve.  We found out that a fishing village (population ~100) was west of the town called Kurth and below the Flood Forest.  It is populated by poor, but good people.  In the city of Calaunt we met a person at the port who told us that the fishing village is called Gate Town and is a Gnome village.  Indicated that the Gnomes like to play tricks.  He told us that we could get a guide from Gate Town since nobody in this city knew the area to the north. We found a stable owner who sold us 2 heavy and 6 light horses.  We headed off to Gate Town.  Approaching Gate Town several fishing boats surrounded our ship.  After disembarking an older Gnome spoke to Sinjin who understands Gnome.  He told that some Orcs had broken the fence protecting the village, were eating their people and had stolen a golden statue of a Gnome.  He said the statue was magical and protected them!?  We decided to fix the fence and go get the statue.  Bayne tracked the tracks to a path in the woods which lead to a clearing.  There were 10 Orcs visible, 1 large 9’ creature that looked plantlike and a hut made of very large trees (about 10’Hx30’Wx15’D).  We decided to attack….  We defeated all of the creatures, but at the cost of a life, Bayne was slain by the Giant.  We all headed back to Gate Town where, fortunately they were able to resurrect Bayne.

We headed off the the Glacier of the White Wyrm where we knew all the answers to our questions lay in wait.  Once at the glacier we headed through the mountains where we knew White Dragons lived...  needless to say we were all al bit nervous.  We found an entrance to a cave that was on a steep elevation.  Upon entering we finally encountered our first Dragon, a young White Wyrm and several Dire Wolves.  The battle tooks its tole and lasted quite some time, but we broke through the door they were guarding and found a portal which we all jumped through.  Unfortunately the Dragon followed us.  This is where Joshua and Bayne made a stand...  Everyone jumped in and we slew the Dragon.  We made our way to the monastery where encountered a large, magically darkened room, we battled a few creatures and dispersed the darkness (not attacked the darkness!).  The large room had a fountain at the other end where there were two openings to either side of it.  There were two stone items on the floor in front of it...  pick up keys... insert keys...  and a door at the end of the elevated walkway opened..  We climbed onto the walkway and went through the newly opened door which lead to a room with a rope and sand puzzle which would tell us which one of one thousand levers to pull and not die!!!  In another room was a clear cylinder extending down and up.  There was no ceiling above and the cylinder reached into the sky, it was surrounded by what looked like ice and several creatures embedded in it, for the first 40 feet.  Back in the lever room we succeeded at pulling the correct lever and a sound was heard, but that was it.  We all went back to the large room and from the walkway we saw that the large statue in the center of the room had slid sideways to reveal a very long dark stairway below it and a large Earth Golem which came out.  We went back down (some faster than others... ouch) to fight it and won.  We went down the stairs which lead to a room with a cylinder extending upwards.  There was much discussion about what to do when Bayne got fed up of waiting and jumped into the cylinder.  Seeing Bayne rise the adventurers followed suit.
