There are several calendars in use on Hârn. Most of them are religious calendars used by churches and their associated holy orders to mark the passage of time in accordance with their own traditions and beliefs. The one calendar in common usage reckons dates from the founding of the Kingdom of Melderyn and is referred to as "Tuzyn Reckoning." My campaigns usually use this calendar and present dates followed by the abbreviation "TR."
Under the system of Tuzyn Reckoning, the year is divided into twelve months, the names of which have religious origins. Each month is based on the cycle of Yael, Kethira's moon, which is almost exactly thirty days. Yael is full on the fifteenth of each month and new (dark) on the thirtieth day of each month.
To observers on Hârn, Yael is totally eclipsed on the 14th day of Peonu. This annual occurance figured prominently in ancient religious practices but has since lost much of its significance.
The vernal equinox falls on the first day of Nuzyael, marking both the beginning of spring and the beginning of the new year.
