Transportation

All coming from outside of Yaeyama Islands are arriving in Ishigaki islands. There are flights to Ishigaki islands from Japan's main islands. In order to go to one of the other Yaeyama islands, you have to go via here by ferry.

Ishigaki-jima

To Ishigaki island

Air

There are direct flights to Ishigaki from Haneda, Nagoya, Kansai, Itami and Fukuoka airports. If you fly via Naha, then you will have various flight options. (15 flights a day between Naha and Ishigaki.)

Sea

There are ferry services from Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Kobe and Kagoshima.

Taketomi island

Ferry between Ishigaki-jima and Taketomi-jima

2 ferry companies operate services, and they have frequent services from the morning to the eveing (up until around 5:30). Iit takes about 10 minutes. Tickets can be purchased in the Ishigaki port area.

Iriomote-jima

Ferry between Ishigaki-jima and Iriomote-jima

There are 2 major arriving points in Iriomote. Funaura or Uehara port, in the west part and Ohara port (pronouce oh-hara), in the east part.

1) Yaeyama Kanko

Ohara (time table:look for 大原航路)
Ferry oeprates from 7:00am and there are 12 services per day. It takes 35 min.
Adult: 1540 yen/one way, 2,930 yen/return
Child: 770 yen/one way, 1,460 yen/return

Uehara (time table: look for 上原航路)
Ferry oeprates from 6:40am and there are 9 services per day. It takes 40 min.
Adult: 2,000 yen/one way, 3,800 yen/return
Child: 1,000 yen/one way, 1,900 yen/return

2) Anei Kanko

Ohara (time table)
Ferry oeprates from 7:00am and there are 10 services per day. It takes 35 min.
