/Just an Accident 9\
I fingered my list of numbers.
So far I had called Sara B, Tuesdey, Gen, CJ, Justin F, Sara S, Scott, Steven, Keith, Heather, Mikayla, Nida, Julie, Julia, Amanda F, Amanda D, Laura H, Erica, John R, Frank, Bridgett, Andrea, Bianca, Chelsea, Jessica, Adam N, Tyler, Hugh, Brittany, Alyssa, Valerie, Colton, Caitlin, Emily, Maddie, Lindsi, and Megan.
Just a few more
Aha! I said triumphantly. I dialed.
Hello?
Sam?
Hey wassup? he answered.
You up for a party? I asked.
Lots of people?
Yup.
Ill be there. Your place when?
In about an hour.
At 8? Sure.
See ya.
Bye!
Click.
After about 4 more calls, I was done. Good thing I had a house phone. If I used my cell, I would be in total debt.
Were back! came a singsong voice.
Justin I shook my head and walked over to the doorway. Where they had about 7 bags full of junk food (chips, donuts, etc.); 4 24-can boxes of pop; one bag of streamers; and a bag of various CDs. Justin brought 3 5 CD boom boxes.
Oh my god you guys! I gasped.
They grinned. This is gonna be a party!
As if you brought enough food!
We didnt? Justin asked. Then he turned for the door. If thats the case, Ill go get some-
I grabbed the collar of his shirt. Uh uh. This is enough.
How many guests are coming? asked Josh.
Hmmabout40, I estimated.
Oh my god! Its gonna be a club here! Michael said disbelieving.
Great huh? Justin said happily.
Remember J, no drinking at this party ok? I said. I totally hated drinking. It was just disgusting.
Just a few?
No.
Just 2? he begged.
I sighed. Fine. But remember, just dont get wasted ok?
He smiled. Great!
DING DONG!
My eyes widened. The party wasnt supposed to be for another hour!
To my relief, it was only Chris and Joey.
Hey! I heard theres gonna be a party here! Chris shouted.
We still need to get ready, I said.

Well lets going! I wanna PARTY! Joey yelled.
I laughed and grabbed a boom box.
I went and set it in the living room with the volume on 45/50.
Justin put one upstairs, and Josh put one in the garage, all set at the same volume, but different CDs.
Turns out Chris and Joey brought multi-colored lights and moonbeams. They set them up all over the place.
We put the streamers all over.
Lance and Chris set up the food and drinks on 2 long tables-one table in the garage, and one table in the kitchen. We couldnt trust Joey to do it and still have food for the guests.
Josh went and got some more chairs and put against the wall.
I looked around. It looked just about perfect. Except we were missing something
DING DONG!
And there it was.
I opened the door since the other guys were in the large living room dancing themselves silly.
Hey Crystal! she greeted.
Hey Caitlin. I was expecting you to be first you party animal! I laughed.
She laughed. Well just gimme the guys and Ill be partying all night long!
Josh is mine! I warned her.
Whos Josh? she asked.
She walked into the other room. Then she screamed.
Oh my god!
I rolled my eyes and saw some others come up the walkway.
Hey Crys! Keith greeted.
His friends, Charlie, John, and Justin F followed.
Crys! Gen cried, followed by a whole mob of girls.
Talk about flirting. Hot guys, gorgeous girls, superstars<sigh>
In about 15 minutes, the party was in full swing.
I had made sure Joshs and my rooms were closed off.
Josh?! I shouted over the music.
I pushed passed the people dancing in search of him.
The fluorescent lights flashed.
Finally in the living room, I found him. He sat next to Lindsi-flirting with her! He laughed and talked to her like crazy.
Jealousy inched its way into my heart as tears inched their way to my eyes. I stood still, watching them.
I shut my eyes and turned around, bumping into someone.
Sorry, he apologized.
I opened my eyes. It was Justin.
Oh. Hey Justin, I greeted sullenly.
Whats wrong? he asked.
Nothing.
He looked past me and I saw his face turn into one of understanding.
Hey Im sorry. But Im sure he still likes you.
The tears grew stronger as I shook my head. He put his arms around me and I buried my face into his shoulder and put my arms around his middle. He rocked back and forth, hoping to make me feel better by whispering things like Its gonna be ok into my ear.
It didnt work, but crying did.
^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^
God Lindsi. Ever since we were kids youve been like that-stubborn, I said.
Oh come on Mr. Big Shot. I dont see YOU with anyone, she shot back.
Im looking for her, I said, scanning the crowd.
Maybe its intuition
Some things you just dont question
Look in your eyes I see my future in an instant
And there it goes, I think Ive found my best friend
I know that it might sound, more than a little crazy but I believe
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
Then I finally found her. Even with her face buried I could tell it was her. Her black hair stood out in the mass of dancing bodies.
A stab of pain and jealousy went at me when I saw her dancing with my best friend.
I looked away, unable to keep them in sight for any longer.
And all this time I thought she loved me too I thought sadly. God I was so stupid. I shouldve known that everyone falls for Justin
Hey whats wrong? someone asked.
I looked up at Lance.
I thought she was the onebut I guess I was wrong, I said bluntly.
He looked over at the crowd before spotting them, rocking back and forth to the music.
Isnt that-? he began.
Justin? Yeah. Sure is, I spat bitterly.
The tears were there, but they didnt fall.
Im sorry man.
I swallowed thickly. I am too.
